One and only hot rod dixon![/quote]
I'll see Rod Dixon and raise you Geb:
800: 1:49:35 indoor
1500: 3:31 indoor
5000: 12:39
10000: 26:22
Marathon: 2:03:59
That's range.
Jim Ryun was ranked number seven in the US in the 5,000 (three mile) in 1967, when he was a college sophomore.
But I can't find his time for that event that year. Does anyone know?
It might well have been under 13:30 (for three), in which case he would qualify for this thread.
Vincent Rono 2006 NCAA D1 champion
800m: 1:48.00 @ Arburn invitation 2007
1500m: 3:36.xx @ long island newyork 2008
mile: 3:57.xx @ Louisana meet under light 2008
3000m: 7:58.xx @ gators indoors 2007
5000m: 13:49.XX @alabama relays 2007
10000m: 28:58.xx @ sunbelt conference
These are going to be way too long of lists as the times are much easier than the HS ones.1) is going to be way too long of list. Pretty much every sub 3:40 guy is a 1.49x runner and if your a XC runner you can run sub 14. Arkansas probably has 10 guys alone. The only thing that might keep the list down is that a lot of those 800s will be on indoor releays and they might not have run the event outdoors2)This is going to be a decent list. Sub 1:47 is getting quick which will keep the list down in size but any of the distance based 800ms who can run 1:47 will easily run 3:40.3) Again this is going to be a huge list. The only thing that keeps it down in size is that some guys don\'t run the 10k. Pretty much every single 13:40 guy in the world can bust out a 29:20 if they ran the event a half dozen times. And most 13:40 guys are going to be with in a couple seconds of 4:00.

Alright guys, It seems like there were four guys on the sub1:50 and 9:00 HS list. Now I want the college athletes (These will include International Athletes of course)
1. Sub 1:50 800m, sub 3:40 1500m OR/4:00mile, AND sub 14:00 5k. (IT would be really nice if you guys can find someone that went sub 29:20 10k to add to that tough first list. I want AT LEAST 2 of the 4, but I KNOW someone that\'s sub14:00 is likely sub 29:20 10k.
2. Sub 1:47 AND sub 3:40 OR 4:00. I was gonna make this sub1:46 but I\'ll let more on the list. First person that comes straight to head is Andrew Wheating.
3. Sub 13:40, sub 29:20, AND sub 3:40 1500m. I know Fernandez did the 1st and 3rd, but I\'m not sure of his 10k PR.
This is gonna be real interesting!!
Agreed. I propose the following for collegiates.
Sub 1:48. Sub 3:40. Sub 13:30. Sub 28:30.
Anyone who's done 3 of those in college gets a nod. If anyone's done all 4, they're likely the only one.
And that's for collegiates only. That's not as impressive for pros. For pros, I suggest one of two lists:
sub 1:45, sub 3:34, sub 13, sub 27:30.
sub 1:50, sub 3:37, sub 13, sub 27:00, sub 2:07.
I'm going to guess that Aouita, Gebrselassie, and Tergat might be the only ones to have done those (if they have). Komen probably could have done the first one as well, but I'm not aware of him running the 10,000. Wanjiru at his best maybe could have done the second.

Gabe Jennings ran 1:46, 3:35, 13:40s in college...
Good call on Jennings, add another Stanford alum in, Grant Robison ran 1:47, 3:35, 13:45ish... and if it counts ran a 29:10ish a couple times at XC nats.
Graham Hood (all by the time he was a sophmore at Arkansas)
1:45
3:35 (9th Olys)
7th NCAA xc
Tim Hacker college times

I like your idea. I just didn't want people to complain about a hard criteria. I checked u.milesplit.us and most of the sub 1:47 guys this year had like 3:50s 1500m. But that's the whole purpose right?
SHOULD I RESTART THIS THREAD WITH YOUR CRITERIA EXCEPT make it like this: sub 1:47, sub 3:40, sub 13:40, and sub 29:00
Bernard Lagat
5k - 13:36.12 - Stanford
Mile - 3:55.65i - Indiannapolis
800 - 1:46.02 - Paris 98'
Henry Rono - all 4
Kyle Merber as a True Sophomore
~1:50
3:58 Mile
14:02 5k
Sam Bair?
I know he broke 3:50/4/1:50 but what about 14:00? Not sure about it and was hoping someone could tell me.

maybe look up Charlie Messenger who ran for Villanova back in the 60's or early 70's. He had a lot of range, but I am not sure of his actual times.
