Why is the OP equating 3:40 and 4:00?

EASILY could have gone under 14:00 - ran 7:49 for 3k and 3rd and 4th at NCAA XC
"EASILY" some synonyms for: "woulda" "coulda" "shoulda" and my favorite "DIDN'T"!!!!!
please quit posting ppl who DIDN'T do it. tons of ppl COULD'VE, but only a few HAVE done it.
on a side note, i've always been impressed with the mile/marathon ranges of mark carroll (3:50 and 2:10 for top 5 @ NYC) and alan culpepper (3:55 and 2:09 @ chicago). of course there are 100 kenyans who've done teh same but these are "our" guys so to speak.
tom lancashire went 145, 338 and 1355 while in college.
dear boardshorts fan, appreciate the love but i never broke 29....29:03 on a flippin freezing day in sacto...i never was any good in the cold.
on those same lines for mile marathon, i think my friend leonard mucheru has to be up close to top 10 all time, what with his 3:49/2:09 pb's. still remember that race from Roma, 2001, 6 guys under 3:50, just sick.
Man, I thought Donald Sage was going to make this list...
He went sub 1:50, sub 3:40, sub 29:00 and 14:04 5k while in college.

Daniel Gitau, Nihon University, May 2009:
10000 m: 28:39.94 (5/16)
5000 m: 13:47.19 (5/24)
1500 m: 3:37.40 (5/30)
800 m: 1:48.06 (5/24, an hour before the 5000 m)
His PBs for the 5 and 10 were actually faster at that point but I thought that was a pretty good 2 week span. All four were wins, and the 800 m was a meet record at the regional univ. championships.
Van Nelson:
13:39.40
28:48.20
Alistair Cragg (ARK)
1500 - 3:39.24
5000m - 13:12.74
10,000m - 28:20.29
~ can't find an 800m, but am sure he dipped under 1:50 while at Arkansas... the above times are from his years at ARK.

Who's got numbers on David Kimani? Any 800s from him?
Boaz Lalang makes it for #2:
1:44.69
3:37.62
3:58.34
Nick Symmonds... does not make the cut:
1:45.83
3:40.91
Felix Kiboiywo from Auburn 1:48 3:40.5/4:00 and 13:53
Standford athletes John Riley and Grant Robison come to mind. Both ran under 3:40, and 13:45 or better, I'm not 100% on the 10k times, but I know John was national champ at 10k, and I'm sure both of them could have done the 800, not sure if they did though.
