Mile and 800 times aren't all that spectacular, I had him at 1:53 anchoring a 4x800, and ran 4:15 indoors.
In reality, most of the kids that are running under 9:00 for 2 Miles/3200 meters will be able to go under 15:00 for 5000

Yeah but Cheserek was 20 when he was a junior in HS, so it's not that impressive.

Yeah this thread is hilarious. 10 pages of people who do not at all understand the question THAT IS POSED IN THE TITLE OF THE THREAD. Cool gathering of data though, the fact that there are only 6 that have done it should inspire more high schoolers to be more well rounded athletes instead of just chasing the fabled sub 4. Although it was funny to watch how many times the great 2 miler and XC runner Brody Hastey bashed himself against that barrier while ignoring his actual strengths.
Patrick Parker of American Fork was also close (1:50/9:04) at elevation.
