I think you are comparing apples and oranges. Sub 1:50 is much rarer - there are many more guys going sub 9 than sub 1:50 every year.

I knew a guy in HS who ran 1:48. 4 times. He was also the Md state XC champ 2 times.
ps: He ran 47.6, 3:51 as a junior and....a 1:46 4x 800 leg. He was state indoor 300m champ also (beating 3 guys who later ran 45 n college).
He would have easily run under 9:00 for 3200m. His bad asthma and withered left arm did not help him though.
Rodney Giles
Craig Engels just joined this company with 1:49.89 and 8:55.51
Edward Cheserek recently went 1:49 and has numerous sub 9 2mile.

I wonder how many posters would welcome a family member coming on here, identifying them and giving this information. Reminds me of stuff my parents used to say, when even if true was somewhat embarrassing when it got around to my friends. I guess if they lived in the internet era, they would have posted their cheerleading for me.
The post is sub 9 and 150. Bile has done niether
So I bragged on him and I get shamed...sorry! Just proud of him. Not many folks had the opportunities he had and the talent.
Ps..he knew I was posting..

Cheserek's 22 years old.
And the case for Spivey's 1:50.5y isn't clear cut. Once you start converting from yards to meters, it's also fair to consider the difference between hand time and auto time. Taking both factors into account puts Spivey right on the margin, not necessarily sub.
So it's really just Webb and Engels.
If you do the necessary hand timed conversion and add .24 then Spivey is 1:50.74 and 1:50.1 with the conversion from 880y to 800 meters.
Only two American high schoolers are Alan Webb and Craig Engels

yeah, so just throw this out there like it's a fact
wtf
you have no clue
"He is now only the fourth high-school runner in U.S. history to go faster than 1:50 in the 800 and faster than nine minutes in the 3,200. Two others in that group — Alan Webb and Jim Spivey — were U.S. Olympians."
Somebody reads letsrun, I think.

Honestly, if they were going to lie about Cheserek's age, they wouldn't have made him a YEAR OLD for the grade that he's IN.
Yes, Cheserek is a year old to be a high school junior. No, he is not 22.
spivey's 1;50 was at the IL HS state meet and not a hand time.
the thread should be about sub 1;50 and sub 9 for 2 miles...the 3200 is an embarrassment.
Then it is Webb, Cheserek, and Engels WEJO
