Here's what our list of milers could look like next year:
Lagat 3:49
Manzano 3:48
Lomong 3:49
Wheating 3:46
Webb... 3:49?
That's so damn legit.
Centro, Ulrey, Fernandez, Acosta...Andrews?
I agree, that's exciting. But I think Webb will be better than that by late summer next year if he doesn't get hurt. I'm thinking by July-August of 2011 he'll be back in 3:46 shape. And I definitely think Wheating has the talent to do the same. I can't wait to see the US 1500m championship race next year.

I1ll that 3:52 converter an out--
big green book published by tfnews tells us
mile to 1500m divide by 1.08
1500 to mile multiply by 1.0737
on the printed chart they list
3:26.2==3:52.2 for that bastard event the 1600m and 3:53.5 for a mile
My Big Green Book says 1500 times 1.08 yields the mile time.
The mile time divided by 1.08 gives you a 1500 time. The 1.0737 you talk about is for 1500 to 1600 and 1600 to 1500 conversions.
1600m does not equal a mile. I guess we have to resort to calling the various events by better names. Some names I have heard are The Full Mile used for a plain vanilla one mile race, The Metric Mile for the world standard 1500m races.
Will the next big thing in track be the chase for the Unfull Mile World Record?

I know the youtube videos of Webb's recent races haven't been great quality, but does anyone else have an unusually hard time picking him out from the group? Before this year, he had such a distinct running style, it was clear who Webb was. Now, he looks completely different (and more like his peers)!
He's no longer "scooting" when he runs and his kick has become more powerful in terms of stride.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
