It was actually 3:36. Do we need to post full results again?

The McMillan calculator is pretty accurate.
Type in 26:59 and it predicts you could run 12:59.
Type in 3:36 and it predicts you could run 3:52.
i dont know about it being a u.s. champ race, but often foreigners are allowed to enter. they just dont get the american champ title since theyre not american.

Too easy.

Wow, I didn't realize the 5th Avenue Mile has such a deep field this year:
Lagat (3:32)
Manzano (3:32)
Willis (3:35 today)
Baddeley (returning champ, ran 3:51 last year)
Laalou (3:50 mile earlier this year)
Webb (3:36 today)
I think all of those guys will probably be in 3:50 mile shape by race time even though some of them already are (Manzano, Laalou, Lagat). If Webb can beat any of those guys in that race, I would say he has had a successful season, even though I think he's already had a successful season just by coming back from a long layoff and getting back into 1:48/3:36 shape in less than a month of racing.
Depends on what Manzano shows up to race.
no
Yawn.
So he's back in high school shape. Wake me up when he breaks new ground.
Alberto promised us 3:35. Once again FAIL on prediction, just like with Rupp.
i'm not sure it would be 'dumb' not to run it, but I can see the other side.

336=352???? WTF???? are you freaking HIGH? remind which planet this is where the conversion is 16sec??
Track&Field News uses a 1.08 multiplier as a conversion and that number has become pretty well accepted. If you go 3:36.21 x 1.08 you get a "full mile" time of...3:53.51...not a bad effort considering everything
Oops, yeah, I meant 3:36.21. I'll go self flagellate so it doesn't happen again. But still, he was running 200 at 30 seconds 2 months ago or some such and now a 3:53. Surely the most talented US runner ever.

Willis is in? Isn't it a US championship?
Nope, the US Championship is the Medtronic TC Mile in Minneapolis in the spring.

Link for the 3:35 promise?
http://racingnews.runnersworld.com/2010/07/a-brief-chat-with-alberto-salazar-and-alan-webb.htmlis all I've seen and it says "By the end of August, he might be ready for a 3:35 to 3:37 for 1500." It's 9 Sept and he ran 3:36. I'd say that's pretty accurate.

see now all those people before were talking all that crap about him being finished and washed up after that 1:52 without realising it was a rust buster. now look they won't post crap now cuz he just shut them up with his 3:36 which is a far cry from what he's done but he's done worse in past seasons where he was healthy and ran a ton more races. i'd say he's back for sure and had this been june, he'd prolly be running 3:32ish by this time if not faster. good to see him back and hopefully the best is yet to come for AMERICA'S best miler. We should all back this amercian born miler instead of bash him.
Well I'm going to man up and say I was wrong. I had him pegged at 3:38 to 3:40 shape. Props to Webb for even starting the race knowing there was a possibility he would get blown away, yet he was actually somewhat competitive.
I'm still not sold about Webb in tactical championship type races. AlSal has never been known to hone a runner's finishing kick (unlike say Sam Bell who's runners always had strong/fast finishes).

His first race against serious comp, I think he can go 3:36ish. Good luck Alan kick A** and take names!!!
This guy hit the nail on the head wow how amazing! Great job Alan!
These results are clearly a hoax. Just a few weeks ago, I read posts from some very knowledgable pundits that Webb was finished.

How is saying you were wrong "manning up"? We can look back in this thread and see that you were wrong. Manning up would be to admit that you don't know a damn thing and are going to stop making predictions with little info.
oh yeah wrote:

Yes, that's true. Webb has more lives than a barnful of cats. He's the exception that proves every rule.

I have found McMillan calc to be pretty accurate, but I think most athletes would agree that 3:36x is eqaul to 3:53 as opposed to 3:52.
Btw, that was a a very comptitive race Webb was in; only 2 seconds seperating the top 7.

Really? You weren't sold on Rupp's kick when he, a 10k guy, anchored the indoor DMR team and ran away from Dorian Ulrey, a 3:35 1500 meter runner? You weren't sold on Rupp's kick when he closed in 52 at the 2009 Pac-10 1500 to finish sandwiched between Centrowitz and Wheating? Jeez.
Just because 12:50 guys are running away from him because they are on a different level does not mean he does not have a good kick.
Props to Willis, not far off his PB on the comeback
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
