Not necessarily.
so what do you think?
i think its unfortunate that anyone would jump to the conclusion of drugs for this accomplishment. i know its a problem in our sport, but come on, a 5 minute win in the 10k?
even if he were doping, which i dont think he necessarily is, a sub-27 solo run is an incredible feat of mental endurance and pure guts. really, its what our sport is all about.

don't you need three ppl as official finishers for it to "count"? i thought it's "invalid" if there's less than three ppl as finishers but maybe that's just an ncaa rule?
I have been aound t&f most of my life and I'm not buying any of this; what is going on here is not a quadradic equation.

so what then, he cant say that he ever ran 26:56? lol
clearly he did
but what's this guy's deal. is he gearing up for something big? is there a kenyan selection coming up soon? i understand hitting low key races to get in shape, but he's solo'd the mile, 5000, and 10000 all near world lead times...well the mile wasn't but wtf.
the iaff photo in that article makes him look way older than 30. he almost looks like a maters athlete.
one things for sure, Menjo is getting himself some serious press time.
Obviously on drugs. African comes out of nowhere, low key meet. Now, when an American runs 26:59, thats just pure talent and hard work.
Now I don't really care either way, but I feel comparing Menjo's 5 minute victory to Solinsky's perfectly set up paced effort where he didn't lead until 900 to go in ideal conditions with ideal competition..well...I think you're a bit out of line.

First km in 2:38 and world record pace to 3000m. Crazy shit.
And that track in Turku is in awfull shape... Pieces missing and crumbling under your feet.
Drugs or not, this Menjo dude is kinda freaky.
Green-shirt guy has the stubbiest legs I've ever seen on a runner. They barely keep his balls off the track.
awesome. hope this guy keeps the momentum going!

I think he is trying to get himself a wildcard selection for the 10000m in the kenyan team for the commonwealth.
remember, having competition isn't always a guarantee for faster times. Some people just get a huge rush from being way out front. Ryan hall is a good example, he seems to run his best times when he is dominating people as opposed to running in a pack.
I am not saying menjo is definitely like this but he could be. So with competition maybe he does run 26:30 or maybe he only goes 26:55. Who knows.
Yea! Menjo mah boy! maybe we can get him out to Wisconsin to do a solo xc effort on the world's best xc course :p
I'm still not convinced that Josphat Menjo actually exists. I submit that his accomplishments are part of a hoax thought up and perpetrated upon us by the IAAF, just like Sports Illustrated did with the "Sid Finch" story back in the 80's. I'd bet that Menjo keeps running wildly fast times until April 1st, when we find out that it's all been a prank.
Either that or it's drugs. Mounds of drugs.

It was a 10,000 meter race...referring to it as a '10k' sounds like a fun run.

Puh-lease! Just shut up already, and let's not get into that rubbish.
Expect Sidd Finch was throwing 168mph fastballs, Menjo is just running barely sub 27 10ks
Now if he was running 26 Flat for the 10k in practice with Gerry Lindgren.
