Decent performance that probably should be used as a positive to go back in the Salazar hole and train for a few more months...at least.

Probably not very many people could pull off a 3:41 / 14:15 double much less someone else named Alan...
Runningart's name is Alan I think (I believe he occasionally lets us know this with his sign off). He could probably run that double since he eats 400g of protein a day and thinks he knows a lot about training. Then he could follow it up with a 400lb bench press and 1000lb deadlift, and then pose for some pics in his underwear. Now THAT would be combo!

Problem now is, there are no fast meets left really. Maybe a meet or two in early Sept. Hardly at the elite level.
He's gonna do the 5th Ave. Mile.
Webb is back!
I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the 5th Ave Mile. That would be a great boost going into next season.
Incorrect. It's a 1000lb bench and a 2000lb deadlift with 20,000g of protein!
PS: they are called posing 'trunks' or 'briefs' maybe even 'suit' not underwear!
Alan

I think that might be a good thing, not a problem. AlSal has him coming along slowly and this race will certainly give Webb incentive to work hard this winter. He can wait until next year to run really fast.
I am so happy about this! And certainly a step in the right direction.

This is it. He got him where he wants him right now, healthy and on the way to being fit. What a coach!
The 5th Ave will probably be his last race of the season. Then back to the PDX for some training and relaxation, more training though.
He will resurrect in the Spring again!
God Bless America

Yeah there was an article in the last Dark Arts Quarterly where Salazar said he was looking into the power of potions. I'll post the link if I can find it.
Webb is on the trail but I'm wary of the webbwagoners coming out and projecting too much.
3:41.16 is not a 3:58 mile. Wait till he runs sub-4 before you give him that credit. Be happy with 3:41 and don't try to make it bigger than it is.
I hope he runs a few XC races this year.
i don't think there's any worry of "webbwagoners" coming out too strongly. there was no reason not to expect the most talented mid-d/distance runner america has ever had to make a strong come back while he is still young and in the prime years of his career.

If this is a subtle joke, I salute you.
If you're sincere... really?
YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome performance.
I can't believe he beat Tommy Scmitz and Wout Vandegaer! He really is back!
I was shocked at Webbs 1.52 ( how poor it was ) so this is a much more reassuring run, however I wouldn't expect him to tear further streaks of this in the coming weeks..., 3.38 looks like a very appropriate target from here.
in case you guys haven't noticed... HE RAN THESE TIMES IN HIGH SCHOOL.
until he actually does something that is actually worth discussing i will still be off the webb band wagon.

Um, do you mean like making a huge leap from his 1:52 seasonal "racing" debut just a couple of weeks ago? Or do you mean like smoking a recent 3:36 guy over the final couple hundred of meters... in his first 1500m race after multiple surgeries?
Great race, Alan. Very encouraged by the fact that Alan is apparently healthy and strong enough that Salazar idsn't thinking twice about making him run another hard effort (ie the 5k) after a "race" type of 1500m effort. Makes me believe that Webb is 100% healthy and has a solid strength base under him. Now he just needs to continue to sharpen his speed and shake out the rust.
Go Webb.
It's good to see Webb on the comeback trail. This has to be good for his confidence.
Also, a big shoutout to Ryan Vail -- still living the dream and getting a nice PR.
i don't give a shit what he ran last week or what surgeries he has had. 1:52 and 3:41 are bitch times. hasn't he been trying to make a comeback since 2007? and how has that been going for him?
it took him how many years to get to 3:46 and it will take him another few years to get back to that level. if he ever does get back to that level. a lot can happen. no need to go crazy over a 3:41.
