Has anyone tried to use compression socks/calf guards as a tool to help lessen shin splint pain?
If so..any success?

They help.
Thanks, that's good to know, have a female runner that has chronic shin issues. She does all the strenghening/stretching routines..but still residual soreness. Any improvement in performance as they promote in ads?
I use the medical grade compression socks that you can buy at drug stores -- 25-35 mmHG -- I use them after running to aid recovery. Once I started using those my chronic shin/calf problems were alleviated. Not sure what the pressure rating is on the compression socks sold by the running companies....
CEP. I've tried CWX, Nike, CVS ones, and CEP worked the best. Cost is ridiculous but just get the shin coverings, not the full length sock. Calf guards from Pro-Tech work really well for me when I have shin problems but still have to do the other stuff.
I think they help the most just wearing them to sleep in rather than running in them.
What does CEP stand for....have a website or get at running specialty store?

Yes, I have been using compressed calf sleeves to reduce shin splints pain. Physix Gear, Copper, and BLITZU are the three favorite brands I have used so far. The sleeves don't fall off, my calf skin keeps breathing, there are no irritating traces, and they make my calf feel much better.
