Scott Davis, our friend, R.I.P.
A great man. A UCLA Bruin.
Scott passed away about 2:45pm this afternoon.
It`s a sad day for us all.

A longtime outstanding meet announcer, apparently.
What a CLASS guy.
Worked with him a few times, dined with him a few times...
Track and Field has lost a great, great guy.
Condolences to his family and his legion of friends.
legendary announcer and statistician; before you could google anything, he was the guy you'd call. privileged to be a bruin during his announcing days at dual meets and mt. sac invite and countless others. a straightshooter, charming, honest, profane, hilarious, acute, sagacious and a host of other superlatives and hyperboles that actually hold true for this rare character.
rip.
my condolences to his family,
cush
I will miss Scott dearly. He was a wonderful friend as well as an awesome statistician and announcer. Tom & I loved spending time with Scott. We'd go up in the booth at meets he was announcing and would be greeted with warm hugs and his latest litany of jokes. Very tough to put my feelings into words - my heart is very heavy tonight. Some incredible memories of times spent with Scott! We'll hoist a toast of good wine in his memory and savor those memories. God bless you, Scott - you will be greatly missed.
Scott never heard a joke he didn't want to tell again. He was infectious when you were in the loop with him.
My heart and prayers go out to is family.
His family, his friends and the sport of Track and Field will all be impoverished by his loss. I know that I will miss his presence and his friendship.
Was Scott at the Youth Olympics? He is listed on the athletics officials list: http://gis.singapore2010.sg/RINF-app/generator/cat/bck/lan/ENG/dis/AT/nam/ATC35/bck-name-rep.xml

Thoughts above make me wish I'd had the pleasure of listening to the southern CA man. Many things go into good announcing including preparation, passion for the sport and the ability to enunciate clearly. There's more and it seems like from all I've read here about ScottD, there was plenty more to the man than calling a race. Obviously, a huge loss for all things running.
One of my favorite personalities. It's been a while since I have competed in a Scott Davis announced meet but was fortunate enough to run into him at the World Junior Championships this summer, where he was announcing. So glad I was able to speak with him one last time. Praying for you and your family Scott.
And he was still so young. I doubt he was quite 70. One day we will whip that god-awful disease. Peace to you friend.
Scott was a good dude. He'll be missed.
More here as well:
I will always have fond memories of racing at Drake Stadium and hearing Scott's voice over the PA system call out "...and headlining into the homestretch for the penultimate time..."
"...and down the main straightaway..."
