There is the oft-quoted statistic that some percentage of young and healthy athletes would be willing to die early in exchange for winning a gold medal.
But when the reality of losing someone, like this man, comes to pass, then medals and records don't seem to be all so important, matter of fact, they don't seem to be worth a damn thing. Nothing more than trinkets.
