I think you mean third from last.

Was that him in the purple??
If so he looks a lot skinnier but also smoother.
He was in the green NIKE singlet.
Thanks, now I see. His form looked good.
no, he was in the purple
3rd place?? No, he finished in 7th place. His form did look better though.
Webb got chopped.
Webb is done, people need to move on.
All athletes hit their prime and eventually do worse as time progress, Webb has probably already hit his.

Yup. This story is over. Nothing more to see; please move along.
i understand why salazar is throwing him into some races before the year is up to get him used to racing again since its been so long. so that he doesn't have to wait till he's in shape next year to get that racing feel back.
but based on the timing with him being injured during the spring i'm assuming he hasn't even gotten the chance to build up a base before he started doing workouts. probably not gonna pop out anything decent this year due to that. it should be good for him to get some racing in though, no matter what condition he's in.
i feel like crying. shattered dreams for webb and his comeback.
There seems to be some confusion... Alan was in a green Oregon singlet and finished 7th.
His form is just different enough to make him hard to spot. It'll be interesting to see if that change can help in the long run.
He is in better shape physically than he performed.
He went directly to the back third of the field. He was not there to race, and doesn't appear to enjoy competing. It is simply a struggle now, no matter what the field or pace.
None of this bodes well for his future.
Haha, you guys are all ridiculous. 1:43 and 3:46, yep, ranked #1 in the world only a few times..he has nothing left in him! Haha, you all need to learn a little about the sport and recovering from injuries. Guaranteed that if he races like 2-3 more times this year, which he probably won't, he would be back down to like 1:47-8. Which obviously is nothing stellar, but gets him back in the game. He also has the best support system behind him at Nike, pretty sure that they will do everything to get him back to 100%. I would bet $10,000, that within 2 years he is back to top form. Stop hating and learn about sports. He is 27...not past his physical prime.
I agree that today's effort means very little and that Webb is likely to regain his top form next year or the year after. I'm certainly pulling for him.
But I don't understand the point of traveling so far to "race" when he clearly had no intention of trying to compete. How is this better than just staying in Oregon and following Rupp or someone else around the track during a workout or time trial?
Was the point just to let Webb travel for it's own (recreational) sake? Did Nike demand some kind of appearance? Is he planning to actually COMPETE in some races in Europe in the next few weeks?
1:47-8 for Webb just plain sucks.
