He looked pretty good with about 3 laps to go. Nobody drops out of a race with that little to go with so much to possibly gain still. Rupp certainly never has.
Only other time that Rupp has DNFed that comes to mind is an asthma attack during Footlocker of his junior year of highschool.
Exactly, so in the last 7-8 years, and since he was a junior in high school he's never dropped out of a race like this. The only one I could think of was a 5K in Portland when he was recovering from a calf or achilles injury and they weren't on the pace they wanted so Salazar told him to drop, and Rupp was kind of pissed.
Now we know he was tripped. Not surprised. He was going under 13 for sure, and his body language up to that point indicated he was up for the challenge.
In hindsight this is a great workout for him. 4000 m at sub 13 pace. Not going the full 5000 saves a little spunk for next weeks 3000. He's certainly ready for a big PR there (just came thru 30000 in 7:46-7:47 tonight) and then he has another shot along with Solinsky for the AR the following week.
Solinsky is itching to get that record and you can be assured Rupp will be with him with 1000 to go in a few weeks.
Last summer, 2 sub 13's by americans.
This summer so far 3 sub 13's and today should have been one more. At least one more race to go with two guys who can go under.
13:00 is the new 13:10 for U.S. men.
All great points and without question Rupp will be totally fired up for 3K and 5K PR's later this month. Definately looks fit enough for 7:35-36 3K and what looks like a sub 13, 5K - where did the info come from that confirms Rupp was tripped? There was no actual footage of this in the video feed...?
Rupp looked good but tripped and fell with 1k to go.

ramxc posted it, saying he had learned from someone. He tends to be an honest poster to my knowledge so no reason to doubt his post, but no confirmation on his actual information.
I think the proof lies in what we actually saw. Rupp looking great with 3 laps to go, making strong moves around people and right on the pack with bounce in his stride, and then just gone. Like I said before ramxc, it had to be a trip/fall or injury.
I'd expect flotrack to post interviews soon, hopefully they'll catch him.

Way to go jackasses!
Exactly.
What Solinsky needs to do is kick from 300 out get in the front of the race and take it home. No one could get around him the last two hundred with him taking up two lanes.

yep, Solinsky takes up 2 lanes.
Solinsky still hasn't shown he has Mottram's wheels-- 8:03.50 2mile (~7:27c). 12:55 / 26:59 are well and good, but let's face it -- they're middle of the pack when you get a WC-calibre field like this together.
He needs to step down and focus on getting under 7:30 for 3k before dreaming of Mottram's success (and that was only a bronze, mind you!).

He's also run 3:48 and 4:50 for 2000.

Good interview. He thinks 12:50 is possible. That would be awesome to see.
I think it happens right after they cut to javeline. Rupp right on it.

Starting about 11:23 on the race clock with about 600 left you can see Rupp walking in the outer lanes.
