Leave Rupp alone, Saladbar probably told him to drop out. Everyone has a bad race, and I'd rather drop out of a diamond league meet than win any of your local turkey trot 10Ks...

1 KIPTOO, Mark Kosgei KEN 12:53.46 PB
2 GEBREMESKEL, Dejen ETH 12:53.56 PB
3 MERGA, Imane ETH 12:53.58 PB
4 KIPCHOGE, Eliud KEN 12:54.36
5 SOLINSKY, Chris USA 12:55.53 PB
6 CHEPKOK, Vincent Kiprop KEN 12:58.17
Is that a 1-3 finish for Merga, or 3-6?
Nice run by Moran with 13:20!
Not nearly as young as German Fernande, who will be replacing Rupp in the next 2 years as America's up and coming young 5K guy, plus Rupp is like 25 or 26 now, I mean he's in his prime and only has like 3 or 4 more years till he begins to drop off. Bottom line, Rupp is an embarassing nancy boy/girl.
Rupp was running a smart race, right on pace but behind the lead pack, then he started moving positions and then bam dnf, and yeah solinsky should have kicked before, he tried to do 500m before and he passed some runners but he lacks the uber closing african speed. Anyway great run by solinsky, he ran with guts unfortunately he didnt had the speed that las 200m.
Srry for any spelling mistakes.

Yeah, I didn't even know he was racing until seeing these results
if chris had run .02 seconds slower, he wouldve gone from 12:56.66 to 12:55.55

tell us the africans who won?
Sorry. It's not easy to watch the stream, keep your eye on the action, post on here (and I was trying and failing) not to burn my dinner. In future we need to work out whose posting what - one guy on the leaders, one guy on the US runners etc. Get this show a bit more professional.
I'm just curious about Rupp. He looked really great until he was abruptly gone - staying on the lead pack, passing people dropping back, not getting caught in the surges up front.
If he was actually feeling injured, he did the right thing stepping off, but if he was tired and realized he was about to drop back - I prefer to see people gut it out. I mean, if the world cross country champion can finish this race in 13:13, Galen Rupp can gut out a 13:whatever.
Again, this is if he is not actually injured.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if he could clearly hear Salazar at a meet like that. I'm wondering if he didn't get tripped or have some cramp or muscle strain.
I've never heard of Rupp dropping out of a race like this, where he's clearly on PR pace, sub 13 pace and possibly AR pace with about 1000 to go. He looked pretty good with about 3 laps to go. Nobody drops out of a race with that little to go with so much to possibly gain still. Rupp certainly never has.
No need to bag on the guy haters, I'm sure he has all the dissapointment you could wish on him with what happened here and losing out on the AR earlier this year. Hopefully for him (and those who care about U.S. distance running) this wasn't something that will make him miss his next couple races.

Once again, there is WAAAY too much Rupp crap on this website. He simply doesn't have the same talent that Solinsky does, and that's who Americans here SHOULD be talking about.

So, who's going to blame Solinsky for "stepping in front of" Rupp?
I will be interested to find out why Rupp dropped out. the way he was running it would almost have to be an injury that would not allow him to continue. He was clearly running very well in this race and seemed en route to a big PR maybe even a sub-13. Even if he slowed down in the last lap or so he still could've set a PR unless he was legitimately injured so there is no reason to think he just dropped out b/c he wasn't feeling good.
Just heard that Rupp fell inside 1km to go... He's fine. I'm sure he appreciates all of your support.

Only other time that Rupp has DNFed that comes to mind is an asthma attack during Footlocker of his junior year of highschool.

They have all dropped out of a race; it is not a good thing to do, but it happens.

Damn, that sucks. More motivation for his next race!

Mike Eps ... try going to a African based running website if you want the African results posted first....... but they won't have them posted till next week.
But if you insist on going to an American based website then maybe you'll have to take the American based interest into account.
Why not call it a white website? There is plenty of interest in Gregson, Cragg, Mottram et al
