Gatlin did look a bit soft, but he always has... I think its really hard for the guy to lean out ( even when he won olympics he was pillsbury doughy). On the other hand, if he had built up quite a bit of muscle training for football, now that will take a bit longer to lose ( happened to me). You got to remeber, this guy wasnt 100% track goal oriented those 4 years off ( football) and wasnt 100% sure he would even be allowed to race. LEts remeber, its August and the track season is winding down- not as many meets for him right now that ma let him in... so his training phases may have been a bit f***ed up until he knew he could get into a meet.NOW, 10.24 into a .06 headwind FIRST race back and FIRST meet of the year is VERY impressive! Anyone with elite level sprint experience knows what im talking about. Jmee Samules dropped like a 10.4 and 10.3 in that meet and just today ran 10.03... perhaps the track was a bit slow as well... lets give this guy a chance before coming to conclusions that he is a mediocre sprinter...I mean the world championships A standard is 10.20! doesnt that make you world class??? i would say so
