Wow ... girl's participating this year weren't too hard to figure out from the results. Looks like they did the race just as a group training run:

Cut and pasted one line too many. 3rd-12th place (among 15-18 y.o. girls) above must have been in the camp; check their finishing times.
Pretty good selection of runners there.
I just don't understand how they determine who the "top 10" fastest boys and girls are. I never got invited and my times are about the same as a couple of the girls who went last year. And I know for a fact that the top 2 girls in my state, Michigan, who ran 17:00 and 17:01 for xc, never went. So I don't know how they choose the supposed "top 10" runners, but it just doesn't seem very fair to me.
Are you Erin Finn or one of the Meier twins? Those are the only current high schoolers who I think are good enough to be invited. Not sure Brook Handler or Gabrielle Anzalone were top 10 runners before their breakthroughs senior year.
michigan athletes are not allowed to attend events like that. nxn, fl, etc. anything that has michigan athletes getting flown out is not allowed
How does Chelsey Margey always get invited to the top camps etc.? She ran well her first season as a runner, but no improvement since, looks like she has connections.

Have the rules changed since Ritz was in High School?
Omar Kadurrah ran the Dream Mile, Nike Outdoor Nationals, etc. He's from Michigan.
Michigan athletes are allowed to go to Footlocker Regionals and Nationals, so I don't know why they wouldn't be able to go to NXN or to this camp. Some MHSAA rules are a little weird, but as far as I know, we are allowed to run at national meets.

Yeah Right... wrote:Uh, sorry to disillusion you there, but UO is not the "number one choice for 80% of high school runners." I mean, seriously, they usually only bring in a class of about 5. Do you honestly believe they only recruited 7 guys to get that class of 5?
Never said 80% actually GO there...
I said it is the number one choice. As in 80% of high schoolers fantasize about being the next Pre, Wheating, Rupp, Salazar running under the light of Hayward field. You cannot deny that this is a dream by any top level high school runner. Scholarships and Oregon's interest in the athletes play a factor on who actually get to go there too.
I doubt 80%. Maybe for the top 5-10 runners, but for the top 50 even, tons choose Stanford, Princeton, and other places where you can actually get a degree
I just asked my daughter who is very good if she wanted to go to oregon. The answer was no. She would prefer her home state or Duke.
My kid wanted to go there (Oregon) when he was a freshman and then started hearing about the drunken escapades of the likes of AJ Acosta and was completely turned off. I don't know of any of the current crop of top kids in our state even considering it.

The drunken escapades of AJ Acosta turned him off? Who is your kid anyway, Captain No Fun?

It was really wierd with MHSAA and the way they ruled with Omar as well as some other runners last summer. As Jrs, Omar and a couple other runners were told by MHSAA that if they went out of state for OUTDOOR track meets they "may" be ruled ineligible for their Sr Season. Indoor there was not the issue since MHSAA does not have a "sanctioned" indoor program. So it was never an issue. MHSAA says that an athlete can not run any meet outside of Michigan in which a qualifying time for that meet comes from a MHSAA sanctioned event. XC runners can only go to NXN as a CLUB team, not as memebers of their high school team. Omar was able to attend a bunch of indoor meets and MHSAA didn't get involved with the big outdoor meets since he was Senior.
Omar was invited to the "Top 10" XC Camp last year and was told by MHSAA he could not go, he was also invited to the Adidas Meet in NYC last year and MHSAA ruled he could not go...but like you said...MHSAA rules are wierd
