Come on, dufus ... don't you think Nike checked it out from every legal angle possible before they moved on it?

Yeah, I guess. But doesn't it seem weird that nobody really heard of it until it was over? Sending the kids out there for free and having them visit a college campus should probably qualify as an official visit. I can understand if they ran in a race or something to qualify them for a free trip, but as far as I know they were just "good" so they got to go. Just seems a little odd.
I am sure that the true motovation for Nike to bring this group of talent to Or was to "wine and dine" these kids so that they will do NXN and skip FL. If that is the reason anybdoy else have a problem with it - not that they are trying to crush FL, but that they are bypassing two other groups who should be involved in the decision on what post season meet to run - the parents and coaches.
One of the top High School hoops camp is the: Adidas Phenom Top 150 Camp.
McDonald's hosts a little get together for hoopers, too...
I'm sure Nike does one, too. I'm just out of that loop now.
I'm sure those two groups were involved. It's hard to get minors to travel across country without them being involved.
If you point is that those two gropus are not actually being "wined and dined" themselves, you have a good point. I suppose the hope is that the parents and coaches will be steered by the desires of the kids.
NIKE actually did research on who to invite and made sure no athletes would be in any potential violations of their respective state HS federations. A runner from Michigan was invited then uninvited due to MHSAA's archaic rules.

1)Why do they have to notify the nation before hand?
2)Who said they visited the college?
3)They did run a race, they ran lots of races and did very well in most of them, hence they are "good"
I wonder if the trip to Bill Dellinger's house to look at his Oregon memorabilia was legal? Followed by a group workout at Hayward Field. The bottom line question is would U of O get a "recruiting advantage" from this trip? My guess is, yes.

They visitied U of O...
They also went swimming in Bill Dillenger's pool when they visited him at his house.

Oregon is a very popular University for track and field. Along with Eugene, Oregon has a lot of incredible and interesting history that any kid should want to see. Whether there is a hidden agenda or not, these kids are having the time of their lives. My roommate went to nationals and said being in Eugene might be the greatest thing he's ever experienced. If you have a camp in Eugene, how can you NOT visit the U of O?!
The recruiting for UO is already done the moment kids hear about Galen Rupp or Steve Prefontaine. Do you really think Nike is that desperate in convincing these kids to come out? Nike is doing wonders for track and field and its working.
Whether there is a camp or not, Oregon will always be the number one choice for 80% of high school runners and there's nothing you conspiracy theorists and haters can do about it.

Uh, sorry to disillusion you there, but UO is not the "number one choice for 80% of high school runners." I mean, seriously, they usually only bring in a class of about 5. Do you honestly believe they only recruited 7 guys to get that class of 5?

Even if this is not counted as a recruiting trip (and I am pretty sure it isn't) none of the 20 need to make an official trip there now, which opens up a 5th official trip which might work against U of O.
Did they see Vin?

Never said 80% actually GO there...
I said it is the number one choice. As in 80% of high schoolers fantasize about being the next Pre, Wheating, Rupp, Salazar running under the light of Hayward field. You cannot deny that this is a dream by any top level high school runner. Scholarships and Oregon's interest in the athletes play a factor on who actually get to go there too.
why were the videos removed??
Checked the site this afternoon and they were still there?
