that's course has an 800ft drop in elevation! The result isn't that impressive anymore once you realize that they dropped off of a cliff!

Would that be back to back races? How many drug free runners could do that you morons?
I used to run back to back races a lot.
For example one weekend I ran a 15km race on a hilly course, got a sprained ankle on the course, wrapped it and ran a 10km cross country race the next day.
Alene is an amazing athlete.
He ran this fast at the age of 40 something. He has a daughter that is in her 20's. Just because he tested positive once .. you cannot assume that he is always positive
Anyway... even with as much drugs as you can take you cannot run 27 mins in your 40's.

Of course you can. Once a druggie, always a druggie.

Although we all doubt his age as 28, this guy is not 40. Yes, his daughter/sister finished 5th or 6th at Peachtree this year and shows what a bang up job they are doing.... yeah, right.
Peachtree sucks and so does that woman who is the elite coordinator Umsucki or whatever her name is.
Bottom line is, if this guy is as good as his races indicate AND HE IS CLEAN, there is no reason to avoid the "A" races and bank even more. He is dirty and you are an idiot.
Damn, Flanders. Why don't you speak what you think and quit being so shy about your beliefs. Ha!
I don't know if the guy is actually a drug cheat, but changing your name from race to race is shady
Other Ethiopians around NYC who used to train with Reta, who's widely ostracized now, make scornful shooting-up gestures when his name (any of them) comes up. (Ask coach and former 2:14 guy Alem Kahsay about Reta/Leta/Emere/Emre. He tells his athletes to stay away from him.) The guy has been avoiding race directors' individual bans, as well as the universal kind, for a decade with name changes and attempts to alter his appearance. Really great guy.
Heard he was banned by the New York Road Runners and was surprised to see a recent win.
That nasty Ethiopian beat me in a race and so he must be dirty.
Besides that he has a lot of strange names, and his friends don't like him. Even his mother doesn't like him. Someone told me this and I wrote an article about it so it's true.
Another thing is that he keeps changing the way that he looks. One day he looks like a black guy and the next day he looks like another black guy and I can't tell him apart!
It is all very suspicious and all of these things keep adding up.

Like Al Sal?
Someone needs to get this god damn guy off the road!!! You can sit there all day if you want and crack jokes and type up sarcastic quips but in the end, the sport is only going to suffer because of dishonest morons like him. If you want to just stand there and do nothing and laugh while these thieves continue to burn down the house, that’s you pathetic state. But as for me, and anyone else who takes this matter seriously, we’re going to do everything in our power to stop these bastard cheats!
I'm always supporting the Ethiopians but this guy is dodgy.

Even if you accept that he has served his ban in the past, reading the linked article or this older article linked on the frontpage(
http://www.newstimes.com/default/article/Running-from-his-past-101473.php) makes me suspicious of this guy's sense of fair play and honesty.
All a race director has to do is ban anyone that has had a previous drug conviction in the sport and that would take care of things. Perfectly legal I believe.
From the old Liza Hunter-Galvan thread:

Moes T, have you heard of this 27th Annual All-American City 10K in Edinburg, TX.
It has come to light on NZRun.com that is where she came in contact with the elite male athlete who recommended Recormon (the EPO product).
Punters on NZRun.com are putting their $$$$ on Alene Reta the convicted Ethiopian drug cheat as that athlete contact.....he finished 2nd in that race.
Moes T, any additional thoughts in light of these startling new revelations?
PS - Do they drug test at that Edinburg, TX race?
I wouldn't put much value on race day testing. It'll only catch the stupidest of the stupid. Although Reta does occasionally go to races that test, he seems to prefer to run multiple second-tier races. Anyone know which races (other than PRRO circuit) have banned him?
back to back this past weekend, wharf to wharf on sunday.
No drug testing in Edinburg. It is a great race the community supports. David the RD told me he asked Reta straight up if he had been previously banned (name change confusion.)
No comment on Liza. Athletes talk and you hear all kinds of things.
As far as my previous work with Ethiopians. The federation wants to know that you will play ball. If not, they will find another manager who will. It will all be in the book some day.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
