I was not speaking for Scott alone, I was speaking about the all of affected athletes as well. There were a lot of athletes, some of which were record holders or favorites in events, where this was their one shot at a medal in the Olympics. And yes, some would then retire after the Olympics and cash in.
Bottom line, if you medal in the Olympics or are even an Olympic athlete, you will have more opportunities, many of which are financial, then athletes that never made it, whether it is immediately after the Olympics or years down the road.
Do you think Shorter does not bennifit from his medals? Do you think his status as an Olympic medalist has not helped him sell books, give him money to make appearance, pay for this travel, help his running store? If you think he could have pulled this off without medals you need to get a clue or grow up.
