Awesome result! Huge PR's for both, especially Koll who dropped more than 20 seconds!!
Two American women under 15:00...... great to see the PR's even if they have 30 plus seconds to drop in order to compete with the best...
American women are kicking butt at mid distance. Can the men respond?

Don't forget Flanagan's 14:49 a couple weeks ago. 3 US women under 15 this year.

I hate posts like these, they were competing with the worlds best! Did you read the names of the women in that race? Did you read the names of the women they finished around? They would need to go 25 and 29 seconds respectively to BE the worlds best on this day.
I know you were trying to make a positive post but I'm just going nuts watching the best year of distance running on the track in USA history and having to see it get nit picked and bitched about. Oh solinsky sucked because he ran 13:08 at pre- yet no one noticed that Everyone in the field ran about 10s slower then they did in europe because the conditions were probably 10s slower. Oh rupp sucks cause he only ran 13:10!! It was his European opener!!! Oh and by the way week in week out the TOP kenyans have an off day here or there but no one notices!
Again sorry to rant but seriously these two girls aren't even national champs on the track. They aren't going to be ranked #1 in the USA this year and they just went toe to toe with the BEST that Africa and the world have to offer on the biggest stage available in a non-championship year and ran HUGE pbs and there is some sort of need to put an down note next to that?!!
NO!!
Congratulations to Molly and Koll!! GREAT runs by both of you! You make us back home proud!

14:44.80 is the current AR. It's gonna be gone in the next year or two.
nj is absolutely right; these are outstanding performances in an amazing year for US mid-distance and distance running, with no caveats or qualifiers needed. Molly and Lisa are solid long term performers, with Lisa coming off a long and very successful final collegiate year. Simply amazing races by both today.
While Lisa's huge pr after the long competitive year is nothing short of incredible, Molly's race once again sets her apart in a significant way. She has been at or near the top of the heap since way back in high school. So many great hs runners, especially girls, are unable to continue to improve and perform at that level. She has defied the odds, and looks to be well short of topping out. It would be interesting to explore why and how.
Regarding the 14:44.80 AR, Molly was only 7 seconds off that today, and others are knocking on the door as well. It might not take another year or two.
Was koll running unattached? What uniform was she wearing?

Unattached and racin' naked!
She was in the ubiquitous Nike purple.
Seconded, sir. I appreciate your fervor. You know what's good.
