Hmmm. With the state of California's bankrupt economy there aren't any jobs down there. Also, is it safe to walk outside the campus without an escort?

She transitioned to College running very well and is healthy, which is the most important thing to consider. Forget about the PR's they will come in time. It takes the body time to adapt to a new environment and increased mileage.
Look at all of the other Freshman phenoms who did not run well as freshman...Kroger, Dunn, Brasovan.
What are you talking about? Kroeger ran awesome. She got 4th in the 5k at NCAAs... that's extremely impressive. Alex Dunne also had a pretty solid year. Brasovan is redshirting.
Eugene has become a hell hole with biking Meth addicts, rapes, burglaries, etc. mainly from white flight Californians who have ruined Oregon.
Half of the college experience is making connections "it's who you know"....Think about who she will meet at oregon. She will be just fine in the job market with people like phil knight in her corner.

It's too late now but it was a mistake for her to not go to Stanford. Now she'll just get a regular job after running is over for her.
Ok, I saw her sunday at Voodoo Donuts. She likes the bacon topped ones, they are good actually.
Another contrast could be Hasay vs. Allie McGlaughlin
she ran great at NCAA XC but then what happened?
The problem is that she isn't really getting better. Sure her mile PR dropped but it isn't like it is a better performance than the 1500m her junior year of HS. I know she has been growing and stuff which can make standing still a win, but at some point she still needs to drop 15s if she is going to be a 1500m runner or ~75s for a 5k runner. That is a lot.And yeah a lot of HS struggle in college. Others set huge PRs (I knew a guy that went from 15:30 to 14:20. Doubling the mileage really helped him). It is far too early to say Hasay is maxed out or if she just needs time. Or if Oregon is going to be a good program for her. Will they be happy with her as a NCAA contender or will they risk her getting injured by trying to push her to a national contender level. Who knows

Let's quantify this. From her Oregon bio:
HS
2:09.64
4:14.50
4:42.21
9:19.6
All-everything
College
4:14.67
4:35.01
9:12.25
16:16.02
XC - 3rd at Pre-Nats, 3rd at Pac-10's, 2nd at NCAA West Regional, 18th at NCAA Championships
Indoor - 4th at NCAA Indoor Champs in the mile, anchor for 2nd place DMR team at indoor nationals
Outdoor - 1st at Stanford Invitational, 3rd at NCAA Champs in the 1500
I'd say that's a great freshman season. True, she didn't pr at 1500, but she PR'd at everything else. All-American all 3 seasons.
As mentioned earlier in this post she ran a pr during NTN in the women's 1500 meters exhibition on July 2 in Eugene in a time of 4:13.85 and came in second place.
Your mom goes to college.
Jordan had a fantastic freshman year. There are many factors involved with making the transition to college running (especially for females). I really don't think that anyone could have expected much more - especially considering the expectations and pressure that she faced. I happened to meet Jordan's parents after the finish of this year's USATF 1500 as I had a runner in the field. They were the nicest people that you would ever want to meet and they said that they were very pleased with her year and hopeful of how she would fare at worlds. I believe that she is doing just fine and the future is very bright for her!
4:14 and 4:13 are the same time for this discussion. If she takes 1 sec off her PR ever 2 years, she isn't breaking 4 till she is like 32. Maybe staying even is winning at this point but I sort of hoped with the more intense college program that she would drop 5+ secs this year. Maybe she is in that type of shape and just wasn't in the races. Have to wait and see

Damn, so she's four years old now? Now *that's* precocious!
Cripes, if anything she's *big* for her age!
It seems that a lot of us are impatient to see her make a big improvement. However, I was impressed with the fact that she raced quite frequently and yet consistently had high quality results. It was mentioned on these boards before that college runners often show a big improvement after they graduate when they race more selectively and less frequently. Hopefully, we won't have to wait so long.

Her grade point average is up there pretty high. She made all Pac 10 Academic Athlete, so she is well over 3.0 GPA
Do you have a source for this? My understanding was that freshman are not eligible for student-athlete academic honors during their freshman year.
She is in the Honors College at Oregon, and she has to keep a high GPA to stay in that program.
Overall a solid first year, although it seems like she has developed an odd stride where she leads with her shoulders. It causes a lot of upper body twist and side-to-side head bobbing. Maybe she has always run like this but after watching her 4:13 at Nike Track Nationals it struck me that she could run more efficiently.
She did well considering the fact that she was over-raced, especially for a freshman.
