Thumbs up.
She was so far ahead as a high school runner and now she is running against much tougher competition. She has done well.
Yet to see if she is a low 4 minute 1500 meter runner but she has done well in cross country.
Doesn't make an ass of herself. Just runs.
The same actually goes for high school to college in academics too.

The transition from HS to college is huge. There have been countless high school phenoms who crumble in college. Simply surviving the first year - is a great accomplishment.

she PR'd in the 1500 last week at the Pre meet on Friday...
I can't find any results for a women's 1500 at Pre.
She just ran a 4.13 1,500 last week

i say so far she has done fantastic 3rd at NCAA 1500 at a freshmen.
remember her season is NOT OVER, she still has a 3k (on moday july 19th) and a 1500 (sunday july 25th) in moncton canada at the WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. i look for her to get huge personal best's to put the frosting on the cake for her season.
I think geting on the podium will be more of an achievment than setting a PR, although I suspect it will take PRs to get on the podium. Btw, World Jrs in events 800 and over tend to be about equal to the NCAA.
Her 1500 PR came in the exhibition at the Nike HS Team Champs meet at Haywood.
This has to be the first intelligently discussed thread I've read so far on this site. Refreshing!
Don't jinx it... Plus, the whole Arab comment wasn't that intelligent.

It's intelligently discussed because it's hard to argue against a pr, and it also is occurring at an incredibly low level of discussion--ie 'gee, most women stagnate their first year in college, im purty smart...' Get an interesting thread with intelligent discussion, then you've got something going on. Remember kids, drink your haterade.
I say after this monday she will be a superstar.
I predict 9:02 for 3k
and still a freshman.
I say she falls flat on her face by trying to keep up with Kenyans. She will go out too hard and end up with a 9:42.
Ashley Brasovan redshirted and was injured just like German.
Ashley is a 3k and up runner.
so when will she run something 3k or up
"If a college freshman improves at all during their first season, it is considered a huge, huge success."
I know many of you are shaking your head saying "huh". But you ask any major Division I coach at a Big 10 or Pac-10 school like Oregon, and the coaches will all agree that any improve during the first year is considered a huge, huge success.
There is so much going on during an athlete's freshman year. A new enviornment, new academics, new athletics, new study habits, new eating habits, new sleeping habits. Away from home for the first time. New relationship issues. It goes on and on and on. My close friends that coach college athletics tell me this all of the time. I believe them.
Robby Andrews had no problem with the new collegiate environment. HUGE improvement on his part.
Solid year for Hasay, but it's clear her late-maturing body has slowed her development like Melody Fairchild before her. Unlike high school boys, girls' bodies can change dramatically. They benefit from a higher strength/weight ratio, but when they develop that ratio goes down and their performance suffers. Perhaps Hasay will continue to improve. If you look a the list of high school recordholders, though, a lot of them do not do anywhere near as well at the collegiate level. One example would be Hasay's record predecessor Christine Babcock who has not done anything spectacular in two years at Washington.
really, wow, amazing - i don't think any of us were aware of that

I didn't see her grade point average. Staying healthy and this are more important...
Babcock did excellent her freshman year actually. Some All-Americans. But not sure where she was during track this year, injured maybe... Washington really took a plummet this year... I guess Kelly Strong leaving had something to do with it...
Her grade point average is up there pretty high. She made all Pac 10 Academic Athlete, so she is well over 3.0 GPA
