did mcardle kill?
Dartmouth won with 56 points. Columbia was a surprising second with 63.
From the ivy website:
Team Standings: 1. Dartmouth 56, 2. Columbia 63, 3. Princeton 93, 4. Navy 121, 5. Brown 137, 6. Harvard 147, 7. Penn 170, 8. Cornell 179, 9. Yale 180.
Here's the kicker of it all...
Dartmouth junior Jarrod Shoemaker, of Sudbury, Mass., edged his senior All-American teammate Tom McArdle at the finish line for the individual title, completing the five-mile course in 24:36.3. McArdle, who was clocked in 24:36.4.

mcardle rarely takes the heps too seriously anyway. he was training full volume two days before the race and he usually takes it like a leisurely strole. its a no brainer that he will beat his teammate when it counts an break the top ten at terre haute. ten bucks says he beats sage, robinson, dobson, and hall at terre haute. he will do it when it counts.
Anyone have full results??
If you think Columbia was a surprise you haven't been paying attention to the Ivy's this season. When you have 2 returners from the top 11, a soph who as a frosh ran 14:30, a soph who as a frosh ran sub 9 in the steeple, a 3:51 15 guy as well as a slew of other really young talent, you have to think they'll do something.
gotime,
I will take you up on that $10 bet. E-mail me.
Anyone who saw the race knew that McArdle gave the championship to Shoemaker. They ran together the whole way and McArdle probably spent the majority of the time turned around, yelling encouragements at him. Also, someone told me that with 400 meters to go, and Sundell a bit too far back to catch up, he heard McArdle say, "How does it feel to be a Heps champion?" Now, whether that was true or not, the fact stands that McArdle didn't get "beat", he was just trying as hard as he could to win the team title, which he did succesfully.
haha GO CORNELL!
YEAH ROJO HOW TO TAKE THE PROGRAM DOWN THE TUBES ALMOST ACCOMPLISHED THE GOAL OF COMING DFL IN HEPS. MAYBE YOU SHOULD GO BACK TO UPDATING THE WEBSITE.
Give him some time. His runner's seem to be excited about the program's new direction and have made marked improvements in many cases this year. Rojo is definitely on the right track.
If you look at the heps this year, it's a way better league than last year. Although I'm sure 8th is still a disappointment for Cornell, the season is a drastic improvement over last year's.
They were banking on Dombroski--who has been their top man all year--to run well and he didn't. Also their third man who scored 6th in the league two years ago and who was hurt for last year was not up there. I do not think the team is bad by any stretch.
They're not bad, not great. Decent team.
The Ivy League is a lot better this year though, I was surprised, especially at Columbia (although that's only because I hadn't looked at their previous results).
The guy they got rid of, Jerry Smith is a great coach in his own right. Just interested what is RoJo doing so much differently that Smith was not accomplishing over the last few years?
