Tony Parrila was a great runner. Lest we also not forget that as a college Sophomore, Earl Jones ran an american record 1:43.65 and finished with the Olympic Bronze medal that year. As a true college sophomore. He also had finished second in the ncaa 1500m as a true freshman while also running a leg on his 4x400m team at NCAA's ( and ran 1:44 relay leg at drake as a Freshman ) Unfortunately car crash shortened his career.
Wheating is a great runner ( he ran the entire third lap of his 3:51 in lane 2!!) and will get better and better, and Parrilla was a great runner, but Jones had them both beat by college sophomore year. I know, I had to race him :)
