When was the last time somebody won NCAA 800 by over a full second? Wheating looked like a man among boys.

I should say "ran" like a rookie. He doesn't always run like a rookie.
Should be a good lesson. I hope/suspect he will be around for a while.
wheating killed everyone. 145

wheating was way too far ahead that last 100 for andrews to catch him. Andrews waited way too late.
No, Andrews wasn't closing at the end. The longer that race goes, the bigger the gap was going to get.
I feel like wheating ran the last 150 faster than andrews. Nothing andrews could do

I know Andrews likes to rely on his kick, but he was crazy to wait that long. Just not a smart race.
No, Wheating was just the better runner. Andrews was positioned right where he wanted to be. For someone reason it wasn't there for him. Maybe the fast semi final heat got to him?

Gayest hug ever between Wheating and Andrews.
They're friends dude, even their mom's are friends.
Sorry your life is so sad that you see things so negatively.

That's what it looked like to me, too. Andrews ran a pretty damn great race for being a freshman in his first big championship/rounds situation - 1:45 semi and 1:46.8 final for 2nd?? Amazing. Wheating just ran a slightly more amazing race in the final.
slightly?
NOT
way better run by wheating. did you watch the fricken video?

If you used an apostrophe for mom's, why didn't you use one for friend's? Plurals don't require apostrophes!

Wheating also ran smarter, he was in the exact position he wanted to be in with 400 to go.
Andrews relied on his usual strategy, and when he tried to get in a better position on the back straight, I think his own man cut him off and he had to tuck in for the final turn.
Wheating was not only the better runner, but the smarter one too.
On the other hand 2nd at NCAA's for a Freshman, is pretty darned good!

Yeah, I watched. Wheating ran better. He's also a senior at his third NCAA championship. I was just acknowledging that Andrews, too, had a phenomenal championship, and even more than that, an amazing season. If he hadn't already beaten Wheating twice, we'd be talking about how amazing a runner he was. No one bashed Derrick or anyone else for losing to Rupp last year.
Just acknowledge that they're different runners at different places in their careers. Both ran amazingly well.
And please, don't call me an Andrews fan. I was just accused of being a delusional Wheating supporter in another thread.

Wheating was definitely the better runner. But did Andrews really want to be that far behind Wheating with 200 left?
It was pick your poison for Andrews. Sure he could have probably knocked himself out to move up on Wheating's shoulder. But Andrew's relatively slow final 100M tells me he recognized that he didn't have it in his legs today. Keeping in touch with Wheating could have done more harm than good. It may very well have been pure smarts that got him the 2nd place finish.
I nailed the top three. Ignore my predicted times though -- other than Wheating's.

Uhm, there were NO ROUNDS, prelims and final. No Prelims, Semi-final and then Final.
He also had a full days rest.
Wheating ran a 1500 heat yesterday.
Andrews did well for a Frosh, but his race strategy screwed him; Wheating, on the other hand ran perfectly.

And Wheating got a free pass to the final.
This is why the qualification heats and semis should be based on time, not by place, the same way it is done in swimming.

Whiny excuse, you run em the way they develop...
Can we make this idiot go away? Please? Its like finding out someone wants to take a truly idiotic and destructive action because they think the world is flat. It scares me.
