Does anyone know if the USATF has a limit on how much of a net elevation drop a marathon can have and still be considered and olympic trial qualifier? I've heard the St. George Marathon in Utah is pretty quick and mostly downhill. Noticed this year
there was one American under 2:20 and another one who just missed the b standard. Seems like a good place to go if you're a 2:25-2:26 guy(which i'm not, much slower) or even someone looking to pr.
How do you approach a race like this? Do you fly in the day before and try to get out before you get altitude sickness or should you spend a few weeks there pre-race? and more importantly does it count for a trials qualifier?
