True statement but really a little misleading.
He was top 8 not including a ton of guys who went D1, a lot who went DII, a bunch in NAIA, even a fair number in high school. Not to mention a crap load of pros.
hell, he could have run just the last 1500m of the DI NCAA outdoor 5000m the last two years and his 3:54 wouldn't have gotten him top 8.
he should have said he was DIII All American. Then I would have respect for him. If he wants respect from his running pears, he just lost it.
My wife and I watched this and she asked me about him, I said his comment is very misleading and any half decent runner in the US now thinks he is the aforementioned 'Douche bag.'
