Too bad Andrews didn't double in the 1500. He could have blown by Wheating twice in Eugene.

I predict this will go like the Maurice Greene vs Michael Johnson 200m showdown in the 2000 Trials.
Anything is possible, but one thing i'd bet on, he'll race a wheating he hasn't raced before. This will be the Andrew Wheating who made the Olympics, not the one who ran an 800 on banked corners or was opening his season with a double.
Like I said, he may beat him, but it won't be like it was before. Andrews will need ot find another 2 seconds worth of performance to do it. It will need to be a sub 1:45 effort WITH a blazing finish. And of course he'll have to make finals first. Wheating has come up flat on his kick maybe 1 out of 6 times and everyone does at some point. Andrews is actually due for it and if it happens in the semis he could find himself out of the finals.
Keep in mind he doesn't lead the nation and hasn't proven he can handle going out in :51 or :52.

Yeah, he doesn't lead the nation, but he's within half a second. And wasn't his 1:46 a slight negative split? Like 53-high, 53-mid. That suggests he is capable of running faster.

Who cares! All the track chicks dig Wheating. Whether he wins or loses, he gets all the babes, ask some of the Oregon track girls.
How many individual NCAA titles does Wheating have this year? Yeah, that's what I thought. Andrews FTMFW
great post
in nc we call him "slingshot"
robby looked so strong in greensboro - I dont see anybody beating him right now
You're all forgetting about the darkness, Charles Jock. He's gonna make wheating and andrews look like a bunch of 5 year olds when he runs 1:43 and destroys everyone. You heard it hear first.
Sorry to tell you guys, but there's a certain runner who will barely manage to beat both Wheating and Andrews come the big day.
LOL at everyone who thinks this race is going to be faster than 1:45. Eugene hasn't had nice weather for a long time, so its probably gonna be cool. Which = not ideal time to run fast.
I'm comfortable with saying that Wheating will not win, Neither will Robby Andrews. I think that Uconn's mike rutt, or charles jock may win. This will play into a sit and kick race, just as everyone hopes for...just your little jersey boy robby isn't gonna win.
Wheating will not give in to a kick. This race will go out hard, i don't care if its a complete rain downpour.
Wheating knows what he must do to win this race.
Robby is still in the learning stages of racing, he will just follow.
keep an eye on casimir loxsom, steadily improved and has run under 147 for PSU and placed first in every race at regionals
My boy Mike Rutt from uconn is going to take home the gold. Wheating should just do the 1500 and not waste his time in the 800.
From an Oregon source who wishes to remain anonymous, Wheating is crying himself to sleep everynight and basically his entire day is spent trembling in fear of Andrews.
Whoever wins will have to hurt more than they ever have in their lifetime. And in the eight that's a lotta hurt. Have fun out there, guys!
