Yes this is possible. Wheating seems to be peaking at exactly the right time.

Very nice back to back day show for Wheating. I was also very pleased with the way he conducted himself in his interview yesterday. In the past he has been incredibly big headed and annoying. He thinks he is charasmatic/charming/humorous, but it is quite obvious he is not. He was much better just keeping it short and to the point. That is why he runs track and is not in Hollywood.
I think he is charasmatic, charming, and humorous. He's the f'ing man!
wheating is take andrews out and whip him - just wait for andrews to get it knocked out of him early with a very honest very fast first 600

wheating and lannana have also said USA and the summer is going to his peak season. Would it really suprise anyone if he ripped 3:34 and a 1:44 overseas?
I'd be a little suprised if that's all he came up with even after the NCAA season and all the rounds at conference regionals and ncaas. He was very close to those marks in his 3rd track season, ever. Had he raced in Europe that year (not worrying about ncaa season) he would have at least scared those marks back then.
We don't know how much he's improved since then since he's never been in a race that went that fast and stretched him out but I'm sure he's hoping for at least 3:32-3:33 and breaking 1:44.
This guy hasnt peaked. His lack of improvement has really come from the other guys around him.
He always races with a target on his back, its not about time, its just about winning.
He needs to get around other world class athletes to bump his game up.
Looks like Wheating just jogged another race in the prelims in 1:48.
As someoneone said earlier, he is the best jogger in the NCAA.

Andrews is in a similar position to where Wheating was his Sophomore year. He's undefeated in every race he's run leading up to NCAA's, winning every competition in his signature style, a blistering at the finish.
This is not true. Andrews lost in his conference race to his teammate, Lance Roller (sp?).
I always find that the haters have a very short or selective memory. There are any number of possibilities for both of these guys going forward. There is a very good chance that Andrews faces two barriers in the upcoming years.
1) No Wheating to chase so he becomes the heavy favorite and the whole racing thing turns upside down. He goes from nothing to lose to everything to lose.
2) While right now it seems like the skies the limit, he'll find himself racing tough races at 1:46 and 1:47 in the next couple races.
These things are likely to give him the sort of experience Wheating has had over the past 2 years. That and the fact that Wheating had a couple stress fractures, a calf pulled and mono. It's hard to match that kind of bad luck but an injury or two are not out of the question. As of now it's all been momentum and no pressure but that ride will change soon. Not that I don't think he'll win most of his college races (much like Wheating did) just that I think you'll see a difference in the way he races. Now he races free, but that freedom will likely turn into a tightness as the expectations and pressure mounts and the PR's evade and the next Andrews shows up or emerges in college.
Wheating on the other hand is likely to rise out of a slump very soon. Getting out of college where he's been a target for 2 years and getting into races with the best in the world is a change that is not only going to relieve the pressure, it's going to stretch him out to PR's which is likely to give him more momentum which is long overdue.
Careers are not made over a couple years. Where these guys will be in 3-4 years cannot be determined or predicted at all right now.
