While she is more mid-distance based, you are wrong, and are the one showinng you are clueless. 202 is not on par with 3:59, even for a runner like Jenny....and this is to be EXPECTED. Jenny is not ready to run 3:59 right now, so it's not surprising she just went 2:02 in a race, that wasn't even very fast on top of it. You are the one who is clueless. If Jenny was ready to go 3:59 today, she would have gone faster in this 800.
Put Jenny in an 800 in a few months if she's peaking well and in as good or better shape than last year, she won't run a 2:02. She SHOULDN'T be running a time on par with 3:59 right now.
Thanks for proving my point. It is much appreciated.
Agree, she is more of 1500 meter runner than a 800 meter runner. Just talking PR's here. She could break 2:00 I'm sure this summer if she got in the right race!
What, no love for Nicole Edwards in 4:06? I assume that is a huge PR! GO BLUE!!

Did someone forget this was a 1500 and not a 1600?
What are you 15? No one runs 1600's, and no i didn't forget squat. Point is Jenny is better than a 2:02, it's only just past mid may, and she's just starting things up. No one should expect her to be at top shape, especially for an 800 right now. Jenny could probably go sub 2 when she's in 3:59 shape, and at her peak. Going 2:02 is pretty solid for her right now.
People confuse PR's with current state of shape. Just because she's run a 3:59, doesn't mean she's ready to run it today. So comparing what she just went in an 800 is not relevant to her pr in the 1500 neccesarily.

Crazy PR for Edwards. It was 4:12 before I think

Jenny is no better or worse than any of the other top American Mid Distance Runners. You will all see this to be true as the season unfolds.
She is a great runner, but will not dominate the likes of Rowbury or Pierce so I would stop putting such high hopes on this athletes.
Dominating at the collegiate level does not translate into dominating at the US and World Class level.
Am I missing something, or has Jenny not dominated the steeple at the US level the past few years? And her performances at the Olympics and Worlds have been awesome.
good to see Russel Brown back in action, and I think that might be a PR for him.

Please re-read my post. I spoke about the American Mid-Distance runners, not steeplechase runners.
And I do not agree with you that Barringer dominated the steeple the past few years. When Pierce was contesting that event, they were pretty evenly matched.

True, but it doesn't rule it out either.
There were some new guys at the meet filming the races and their race videos look nice. The site says interviews are coming as well.

Ah thanks.
The changing of women's names is ridiculous.
Why does it matter what Jenny B. runs for the 800 anyways??
You guys know Bernard Lagat's 800 PR, right? 1:46! Slow compared to 3:26, in the same way 2:02 is slow compared to 3:59.
I just watched the video and that was a really nice run by Barringer.
Does anyone have the splits?
She must have been about 3 seconds behind at one point and came on quite well to the finish.

Actually, the rabbit slowed down quite a bit between 400 to 600 meters causing the leaders to drop off the pace allowing Jenny to catch up with the pack by the time they hit 200 to go.
Splits for the leaders were
Donohue: 28.7
Donohue: 58.4 (29.7)
Donohue: 1:31.8 (33.4)
Clement: 2:01.33 (29.5)
Thanks to the hard core L.A. running media (Runner Stream, Runner Space, Track and Field Photo) for covering our little, obscure meet.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
