bump, gun's about to go off.
just misses world record, 30.97. damn that's fast.
Looked like he jogged it too, such a shame he didn't push it. How often does he get to run a 300

Given his own statement of doing 31 in practice, that time seems a bit pedestrian.

I say not a world record, but close, in 30.75sec.

I thought the record was 30.68. It is 30.85.
So, I predict 30.75 for Bolt tomorrow.....A world record!!!
Go Bolt.
You should have stuck with your first prediction. At least you would have been half right.
his form always makes him appear to be jogging compared to the competition, but he was pretty dead after that race. on his hands and knees and couldn't talk to the reporter for a little while. still he was cruising i think he could definitely go sub 44 if he doesn't go out in 19.82 ha..
Yeah his 200 split was 19.83, which means his last 100 was over 11 seconds. He hasn't run that slow since what, kindergarten?

OH HEY!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
What ever happened to that 600m match race between Bolt and Bekele? Is it ever going to happen?

oh I get it! This is one of those threads where, because someone attempts a race, all the predictions become absurdly low. Kind of like German running 13:03 and what not.
Bolt is out of condition and isn't sharp. He could run100 at 9.9. Hit 200 at 19.5 or19.4, but then he's baked. The final 100 would be more like 11.2 or so which would get a 30.7. However, due to psychological reasons, I don't think he attacks the first 200 that hard. I would expect more like hitting 200 in 20.2 and a final hundred in 10.8 or more. Unless he's been putting in 400s in training, I don't think he breaks 31.
My guess: 31.36
Props! He ran faster than I thought he would.
1) He was running in the rain
2) It was windy
3) Johnson's WR was at altitude
4) He won the race by over a second and a half
It's kind of hard to compare his performance to Johnson's given the condition. We can only speculate as to what his 30.97 translates to under ideal conditions. I'd guess well over the .12 seconds he fell short by.

This would be a great race but can any meets afford it?
I think most cant wait to see a Gay Bolt Powell match up over 100 but a 300 match race between Gay and Bolt would be amazing. If I could add a 3rd I would put in Walter Dix.
What's up with the 9.07 100m split? That seems to be a glaring error.

Wow, was it really that fast at 200m? That's too fast, methinks, and 20.2 might have given him the record.

Great prediction, seems there are other realistic people on these forums, and your guess of his last 100 in 11.2 is amazing, considering he ran 11.1. Nice job. Also, the poster who said he split 43.5, it was actually more like 45.5, the thread is long buried but you can find it yourself. He almost slowed to to a jog at the end of both that 400 race, and his 300 race, totally loses form after just 100 meters, and is the exact opposite of MJ when it comes to a finishing kick. He'll never get the 400 record, you heard it here first....or 41st, too many to count.

This was easily the most accurate prediction of the thread.
