Minus the pasta and bagels and you just described the basic diet of 90% of the African Americans of today.

...food that is just a preparation of a food or drink we discovered (potato chips, orange juice, hamburger),... I'm talking about fundamental staples that man essentially invented by doing something creative with what nature provides. Here's my list:
1. Coffee
Everyone is going off on coffee, but how is its preparation that much more creative than squeezing oranges? Basically grinding beans and boiling them in water, whoa, crazy stuff.
Hell, hamburger is just grinding up a cow.

You realize that there aren't just plants out there with roasted coffee beans growing from them, right? Go research how coffee is made -- it's far more complex than squeezing oranges and grinding meat.
So.........
It looks like these guys are talking Future FrankinFood.
Coffee and chocolate- what prompted man to do all these weird steps needed to make these two things. We are an inquisitive species.
I don`t even want to try and wrap my head around what prompted civet coffee. Eating monkey brains is about as far as I'll go in the persuit of the perfect forkfull.
Ooooh, you roast the beans before you boil them, clever. You must love some double-baked lasagna then.

Do you know where you find the beans? They're seeds of a cherry plant. So you're saying that saving the seeds of a fruit, roasting them in the sun to the appropriate level of dryness, then grinding them and boiling the resultant dust into a stimulant-laced drink, is as intuitive as squeezing an orange for its juice?
Here they are in no particular order:
Egg McMuffin
Sausage McMuffin with Egg
Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit
Sausage Biscuit with Egg
Sausage Burrito
Sausage, Egg, and Cheese McGriddle
Big Breakfast with Hotcakes
Steak, Egg, and Cheese Bagel
Hash Browns
Angus Deluxe
Angus Mushroom and Swiss
Quarter Pounder with Cheese
McChicken Sandwich
Fries
Angus Bacon and Cheese
Chicken McNuggets
McFlurry with M and M's
Vanilla Triple Shake
And, of course, Big Mac
Sorry, I just could not narrow it down to only 10. This is the fantastic list that has added about 2 minutes per mile to my racing times...
I have to agree that coffee and beer are #1 and #2.
After reading through this entire thread, I can't believe that no one mentioned the following:
Twinkies
Suzy Qs
Cream Filled Oatmeal Pies
Moon Pies
Snickers
Three Muskateers
Jelly Beans
Peeps
Along with the coffee and beer, that's my Ten Greatest Foods or Drinks.
