What about Bekele's 26:25 from Oregon a couple years back?
Americas record refers to north and south america citizens.
I think he is refering to a person who lives in one of the Americas, not an American soil record.
Now its the BIG FIVE in American distance running. Something in the water and air in Portland..

Actually the IAAF goes with the term "Area Record."
Dude this (sub 27) is awsome!! We finally have someone to compete with the Kenyan and Ethopian junior runners. I just hope he can further improve and not burn out.
Why wouldn't the guys getting lap get out of lane 1 for Solinsky. Do the right thing. You are getting lapped.

Amazing!!Are you guys sure they ran all 25 laps?
we have big question on this issue
Congrats Solinsky, i am tired of everybody making a big deal out of Rupp, now it is Solinsky! Too much for POLLEN for RUPP!
Guess we won't be seeing Solinsky in a steeple any time soon!
Rupp looked pissed. Didn't acknowledge Jerry, barely shook Chris' hand.
Was that Salazar with the hat, who ran by Rupp to pick up Solinsky?

hahahahaha too true. For a long time, a lot of people, including Solinsky himself, have been saying his best event was the 3000. If you look at his PRs, that was true. After this... Damn. I can't wait till he runs a fast 5k this summer. I think the AR goes easily now. 12:54????

After his finish, Rupp was leaving the track, then was ushered back across the track and grudgingly touched Chris' hand and took off.
Not a happy camper but who could blame him?

I can still blame him, it's his (and Salazar's) own fault for hyping this up so much, and being so picky about where/when he was running.
Congratulations to Solinsky, I am ten times more glad to see him have it than Rupp.
way to flip the program Solinsky!
American 10k team looking good...
I thought the most impressive thing about Solinksy's race was the way he ran it--consistent 65.x then throwing down a 1:56.2 last 800. Being able to close like that makes him competitive with nearly everyone besides Bekele.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
