Yes, he wins easily with a modest height. There are also a few others deca guys in the Big 10 and the added three events do not treat all guys equally.

Minnesota will indeed go 1-3 in dec. No heighting was just bad coaching when to come in. He couldve cleared 10 ft and made Nationals. Wisconsion guys are decent, Iowa is a Day 1 guy, and MSU guy appears to be redshirting. So who else is there?
As much as I want to believe that Wisconsin has a shot with a great meet, the fact is that when you look at the performance list for the conference, Minnesota is running away with it. If Mead makes it back, it'll really be over. The fact they're sitting 20pt Studt should speak volumes as to how good they actually are.
Groce has had a relatively mediocre season until today -- he ran 45.8 and passed the Baylor 400 leg in the 9:32 DMR. He suddenly adds event and relay points for the team that I had substantially discounted. Still, others had so-so meets at Drake this week.
Is Iowa not in the hunt? accoridning to the performance list, they're winning!

It's Iowa, so they should just be ignored.

What year did Rombough redshirt?
I honestly don't believe he has eligibility?
I was at Drake and saw Rombough run well for the Gophers. I think 4:01 (?) leg in the 4X1600 and a decent 1200 leg in the DMR. He's definitely back.
He is listed this way for the Stanford 5000:
70 Chris Rombough Minnesota
Wisconsin will win all distance races.
1500 Miller (Boals and Finnerty inside top 6)
St Gasper (Shields inside top 5 as well)
5000 Miller or Darling (Gasper and Peacok inside top 6)
10000 Peacock (Krause, Darling inside top 5)
This is almost 80 points by itself!
So the people that are saying Wisconsin will dominate the distance, are these the same people that said wisco would score like 85 or so points indoors in the 800 and up? I recall all these absurd predictions and then who came out and put 3 guys in the 800 final, 3 in the mile final, scored 2 in the 3k and 2 in the 5k (without blankenship), oh yeah thats right it was Minnesota. We'll have to wait and see, but i just find it funny when people continue to throw out outrageous predictions like 80 some pts in the distance...and winning every single distance race, and forget these people still have to show up at the meet and race, and rombough and blankenship are two of the best at showing up when it matters most, at Big Tens. And give me a break every time Gasper tries that double with the 5k he blows up, and 4 guys in top 6 in the 5k and 3 in the 10k? give me a break, thats what i know you obviously no nothing...

First of all, things just didn't go wisco's way at indoors. MN was winning that meet no matter what. They had some really great breakout performances and lived up to the hype at home. That being said, a lot of the points the badgers lost in distance were from people tripping. Granted that's no one's fault (except Peacock [watch the replay on big ten network...]). Mellon (5th at NCAA 800 true frosh) went down as did Mohamed Amed (AA XC). No excuses for that, gotta stay on your feet to finish. As for the remarks against Gasper, someone who has been a threat on the track at the big ten level since he was a redshirt freshman, I look at 2009 as a perfect example.
1 395 Mead, Hassan SO Minnesota 13:28.45 14:20.75 10
2 267 Williams, Lex SR Michigan 14:01.62 14:22.32 8
3 401 Rombough, Chris JR Minnesota 13:54.37 14:25.98 6
4 377 Blankenship, Ben SO Minnesota 14:26.15 5
5 652 Gasper, Ryan JR Wisconsin 14:12.50 14:30.18 4
6 118 Poore, Andrew FR Indiana 14:21.51 14:30.33 3
7 514 Dawson, Kyle FR Penn St 14:02.50 14:31.71 2
8 536 Pollow, Dennis SR Penn St 14:11.02 14:32.22 1
9 443 Ealy, John SR Ohio St 14:09.40 14:36.74
10 459 See, Jeff SR Ohio St 14:41.41
He got the job done for the badgers by picking up some very helpful points in the 5000. Maybe results in prior years left you wanting more, but that's a solid performance in what is clearly a tough double. Look at the guys who are now leading the country that couldn't pull it off and the vets (and newcomer blankenship) who could. Do your homework next time.
I still go back to Studt and mead redshirting. If Minnesota didn't think they would still win easily, one or oth of those guys would still be competing.
However, there are others in the conference as well! Lex Willliams is my pick for a 10k/5k double win. Jeff See will be a factor in the mile and whatever they do with Bayer. Turnr will beat Gasper in the steeple this year too!
Minnesota
IU
Wisconsin
OSU
turner sucks
Turner does have better speed than Gasper mile time. That wouldn't be an upset at all. Bayer is going to place top 3 in the 1500 for sure; I think IU will be a top 3 team for sure. Minnesota are clear favorites with Wisconsin and IU battling for trophy spots. OSU outside looking in. Then Iowa, Penn St., Purdue, Michigan, Illinois, and then MSU rounding out the rear (becoming their usual spot).
Some interesting head-to-head stuff this weekend at Stanford, Iowa and OSU. From Stanford:

Plus Indiana, Purdue, MSU, Michigan, PSU, OSU at the Jesse Owens and Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin at the Musco.
It is now a 4 team race and IU could make it into that group if they get some surprises early because they're at home. With no Studt, Minnesota comes back to the field.
Looks like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and OSU all head to head for title. IU a little behind.
Penn State
Illinois
MSU, Michigan, Purdue are very bad.
Wisconsin distance makes all the difference. if they can score 80 points(and they should), they'll win.
70 points is going to happen!
800
Rucks 5th, Beth 6th = 7
STEEPLE
Gasper win and Shields is 5th = 14
1500
Blankenship wins. Miller 2nd, Bolas 4th, Finnerty 5th = 17
5000
Bayer wins. Peacock 2nd, Miller 3rd, Gasper 6th, Darling 7th = 19
10,000
Peacock 3rd, Krause 4th, Darling 7th = 13
Ahmed will be top 5 if they run him?
Ahmed and Zach Mellon have not run this spring; Mellon especially is a star with a 1:47i and a 5th at NCAA 800i.
I doubt they'll waste either one's eligibility.
Fact is, Minnesota will have to really stumble to not win. Iowa is looking good and theoretically should be in the hunt, but I bet on Wisconsin and OSU ahead of them given Wisconsins tradtion and the last couple years at OSU.
Indiana has some great studs but not enough depth.
Penn State needs to add a 4 x 800!
