http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BB7tClTaQbgTrue. I loved watching Ndeti's wins but remember that his course record was greatly aided by a very strong tailwind (I forget the actual mph but I know it was strong and constant to the finish)

Cosmos Ndeti ran 1:02:15 in 1994. Andres Espinosa ran 1:02:19 in closing.
A side note, a lot was made about Ndeti closing his final mile in 4:28 but Espinosa closed his final in 4:20 trying to catch Ndeti.
A great race, but pretty damn depressing to me.
Hall and Meb both had great runs, but the idea that a 2:08 is still not enough for an American to break the top 3 at Boston is discouraging. And there wasn't a single American woman in contention this year.
Did anyone notice that Hall was hamming it up a bit after the turn onto Boylston street. He was running with his arms out, waving to the crowd, weaving a bit, before he started realizing that Merga was slowing.
I think Hall only missed by 2-3 seconds... if he hadn't done some of hamming, I think he would have passed him (barring some reaction/kick by Merga).
Anyone agree?
They called out his name, he waves to the crowd, so what!! You would think that the track crowd would be happy that he is getting enough press for people to actually know his name and we could rid ourselves for being aligned with a loser sport.
I guess since track is appreciated on a world level and in countries where they are happy if their athlete just makes the Olympic final. It shows the problem is not the sport is a losing sport, it is the sport in the US is followed by losers.
Are you the same dumbasses that complained when Usain Bolt celebrated in Beijing or acts goofy around a meet promoter. No such thing as bad press, but then again, there is probably not a champion on these boards that would have even come close to knowing.
exactly! i think people are mistaking the arm raising in the final few meters FOR the crazy weaving and rejoicing he made with 600m to go. A runner of his caliber and anyone for that matter should not be celebrating that far from the finish line unless they are winning...
It was a great time trial by hall. I guess he forgot that today was a race....
I would rather see hall try to win and bomb, then refuse to acknowledge that he's in a race and run a good time for fourth.

oh yeah. just imagine all the props he would get for breaking with merga and chery, blowing up and finishing 9th.
How would his career be going right now if he did that every race, rather than finish with a good time and top 3-4?
Anybody know how many Americans got under the A standard today? All I've seen is Hall, Meb, Lemkuhle, Vega.

I would respect him more as a runner if he wnet into a race and did everything possible to win. That's what the top runner's do at races. But, wait, I forgot, this is the USA and the Boston Marathon is now a fund raising event where finishing is more important than racing and challenging yourself and others.
The USA is full of great time trial runners, all we need is some good racers and we will have it covered.
Do someone have the results?
Do someone know how to go to Boston web site?
Or do someone too dumb to do dat?
He didn't just not go with rob and the mergster. He actually never changed pace because of his competitors. He didn't even try to stay inside the pack when they were going "his" pace. (instead he would dart to the side of the road, because he knew the course and its tangents better, or because he's just silly). It's a race. not a time trial. He lost, with the strategy of, if anyone races faster than 2:08, they'll beat me, but how likey is that?. There's nothing wrong with getting 4th, but there is something wrong with his strategy if he was looking to win, and if he thinks his strategy will ever win.
And to those who point out that 2:08 wins most Boston marathons, ask yourself if the winners would really have still ran the same time with a wonderful rabbit named hall to follow, with a tailwind, and with great conditions in general. Not to mention good marathon times have taken on a new meaning recently, in case you haven't noticed. 2:08 isn't what it used to be, even on Boston.

HAHAHAHA. POD.
Does anyone know what the slowest time was yesterday? If so, does anyone know what the slowest time posted by a non-charity/comped entry runner was?
