There are plenty of other sports where whites are more natural I'd suggest you pursue those then. Or you could take that the attitude that you are interested in seeing the best whether that is makau or cancellara, not necessarily obsessed with wanting your race to be better than another race.

There's dyestat for high schoolers which consist of MOSTLY American high schoolers. I'm sure if your look hard enough you can find a site that caters to mostly American runners even if they aren't the best in the world.

We have some Americans who do compete on the world level and they get time on the front page; however, I don't see the point your trying to make in your post. The FRONT PAGE post mostly news and results stories, so when MORE Americans start making those stories/results I'm sure we will see them or their story on the front page (ie like Magdalena).

This site is the best source of news on US runners that I am aware of. The fact that you are too lazy to parse news that you're not interested in has no bearing on what the brojos should do with their site.

Haha can you imagine someone on a soccer site complaining about too much coverage of eutopean football to make room for Major League Soccer? This is the best of our sport, love it or leave it.

Well my friend if that true, We Amerians or Non Africans deserve no news, props, or recognition in running the last 20 years!

There is a ton of coverage on this site of American's doing things that noone outside of America cares about. There is certainly a bias towards Americans on the front page. That truth of the matter is that there just isn't as much to write about them as there is the Africans.

This entire site went nuts over two guys barely breaking 13 last year. Thats fantastic and a great year for American running.

How many Africans do that several times a year? In the grand scheme of things, its just not earth shattering news.

While I don't think there is anything at all wrong with rooting for your country or rooting for American runners I think the brojos intent is to humanize the 'nameless' African runners. I just read this somewhere the other day but can't remember which article or link it was. I will try to find it. They want the top runners to have names and be known regardless of what country they are from.

Ulitmately I think that is best for the sport of running overall. Personally, I find myself rooting for some of these African runners after reading articles on them and finding out about their background. Some of these guys have amazing stories and it is hard to root against them once you realize they are individuals and not just another African.

I will still root for the American most of the time though.

When we start recognizing second rate performances as great accomplishments we start letting the performers believe that they should be satisfied with what they have done. They need to work for the recognition, we shouldn't just hand it to them.

We do because Americans don't go after fast times or run World XC

I come to this website for international running news because it is the best... a lot of international visitors to the site would be lost if it stopped providing the down-low on the world's best runners

I agree, Lisa Koll should have gotten a lot more coverage

LetsRun is an amazing source on the world elite running scene, as well as on the US. If anything, the US is already covered way out of proportion to our performances. The balance is great as is.

You are retarded. Not once did the OP say anything about "whites" or "blacks." He said African and American, which, last time I checked, is nationalism, not racism. There are plenty of fast AMERICANS that are different races, and no one has alluded to them as anything other than Americans.

I love this web site, but I also enjoy and love following American Distance runners(almost exclusively...exceptions are Paula and Bekele) and their achivements, results, and growth as athletes. Seems to me we have to start by supporting more runners like Maggie Vessey before they win big events. American distance running not only needs good coaches, training plans, and talented athletes but a support system from our media, fans, and sponsors. Our teams and athletes have been trying so hard just to break out of 1970's standards of running let a lone break new world records. I agree Africans don't get enough props, but is that really our problem? I believe in some support, but it seems to be getting out of hand. During the Olympics I cheered for our country, I think most people do, but for me I don't it to because it is the just the Olympics, I do it all the time regardless if is the Olympics, I always cheer for American athlets, I chear for them in college events(NCAA's for examples), national events, and so on. To me the line is clear....and that is what like about runners like Ed whitelock, he once was asked what is his main drive? He stated something like " I want to win...it's about the competition nothing else", he didn't try to suger coated by saying something politically correct. Well, enought said....thank you letsrun....and all you do......oh oh oh....I remember something, there was this post about if Africans actually train harder than other runners, great post. I don't think they do....either way it doesn't really matter. I just to see Americans supporting Americans! We are diversified enough alreally.....in a good way. Go USA!

ps...just finish 6 miles on the treadmill....felt great!
