I know lots of people do not do this. Heck, I know a lot of runners won't even wear the same running shorts twice without washing in between - this blows my mind.

No- I do not! I wash all my clothes after a single wearing and you should too. You might consider adding bleach to your whites when you finally get around to washing your wretched skivvies to eradicate the brown stains and foul smell.

You are gonna wash a pair of jeans after one wearing? I'm not talking about digging in the garden or cleaning out the garage, but one easy day and you will insist on washing them?

Yep- pretty much. The one exception would be if perhaps I was around the house and didn't venture outside the entire day (which almost never happens). Also, I clearly relax my standards when on vacation, camping, hiking, skiing, etc.
I am appalled by poor hygiene. Wearing underwear 2 days in a row is the very definition of poor hygiene. If you have access to >1 pair of underwear, use them!
I don't even wear underwear and will wear jeans and running shorts more than once. But I shower twice a day (since I run twice a day). It's not gonna kill you or give you anything weird down there, and no one knows. I actually believe it's healthier to NOT wear underwear cause you'll sweat less and stay drier down there (less of a "bacteria-friendly" environment). Same goes for socks: I try to go sockless as much as possible, outside of running, and haven't had athlete's foot in about 9 years.
I wear my running shorts until the salt deposits from my sweat render the shorts too stiff for comfort.
underwear twice is kinda gross. everything else is on the table. back when running 11-12 runs a week socks shorts shirts all got worn twice for runs even. not underwear though.
So you drop by the post office and do some grocery shopping and that is enough to wash them?
I think that is a tad obsessive, but, no harm (waste of water/energy/time maybe).
So you camp. Car camping, or back-country backpacking ---and does relaxing your standards slightly bother you really annoys you and is in the back of your mind most of the time?
If my mom wears her panties one day and I, as an adoring son, wear them the next, does that count?
This isn't a matter of cleanliness, it is a symbolic gesture about the fact that you care about your appearance, just like folding your clothes, or combing your hair.
The harm is that you run the risk of prematurely wearing out the clothing via excessive washing cycles.
Thanks for all the input.
As far as running clothes, right now I run about 9-10x/week, and I wear the same shorts for a week before washing; washing too often wears them out too quickly. Also, I keep my hair short, so I never have to comb it.
You mean the panties your mom laid out for you?
I think as long as you don't poop in them, you should be good to go. A serious question to the poster who washes garments after just one brief wearing, are you a woman?
I haven't worn underwear in over 10 years. I'm a total freeballer.

I'm not really a "break all the rules" type of guy, but if I were, I sure in hell wouldn't start with wearing underwear two days in a row without washing them. What a weird thing to be proud of. Go wash your underwear you sicko.

Yes- and I wash my hands after these activities, as well. Do you?

I hike and back-country camp at least once each year. I really don't have much trouble going 5-6 days without shower or clean clothes. It wouldn't be the same experience otherwise. I must admit that drinking purified water from rivers/streams does gross me out a bit, but oh well.
No, those activs by themselves would not cause a handwashing, but chances are I would wash them anyway for other reasons when I got home.
I guess I just find it odd about the one day for jeans thing when you are also cool in the backcountry for days. Is it a germ thing?
Undies are reversible. Flip them in and out to get a second use. Flip from to back to get four total days of use.
I wear the same pair of jeans 10 or even 20 times between washings.
Now if the spots (coffee, tomato sauce, pencil marks, dirt, etc.) start adding up, it's time to wash.
Likewise, if they smell like ass, time to wash.
