You would think he would have been at least an 8:45 guy in high school then. California is the most competitive state in the U.S. and German ran 8:30. Mo was nowhere near this but is at a whole different level now.
One thing we can safely say, is this is a very strange and unique case of someone who was good, who suddenly got great.
Um, some (ok, ALL) people DO have off races and perform below their potential. Tactics in a race also affect road times, they aren't all single-file rabbited affairs like the Stanford meets. In fact, US Champs on the roads don't have rabbits. A broader picture tells a more accurate story, what else did he run last year other than the 59:01?
Are you speaking generally Conto and just hit reply after my post? I didn't say anything about who is American and who isn't.

For 10000m, the 28:24.1 run by Billy Mills in Tokyo?
That's one person in one event.
Just got a email from Mo Trafeh and he's planning on taking some time off to rest before resuming training. Next time I speak with him I'll ask him what his immediate plans are track or road etc? Also well ask him if he got any closer to sponsorhip since his great 1/2 marathon?
zap fitness. coach rea will let you do your own thing.

My point being is that they came up through the US development system. Basically have the same running development experience that guys like Ritz have
And I said that people like Mo, Meb and Kip are bringing about a ressurgence in AMERICAN distance running. So what's the problem? The very fact that you thought I was being sarcastic displays your own tendancies to view them as different. Can't I give a shout out to these guys without specifically pointing out how American they are? You are like the guy who gives a black guy a compliment only after specifically stating that you don't mind the fact that he is black.

Now you're the one jumping to conclusions! There are so many nay sayers on this board it's hard to tell when someone is being an ass. Sarcasim (or the lack there of) is hard to determine over a message board.
No sponsor or coach wants to touch this guy because everyone seems to know the same thing. Those outside of the circle such as non elites or beginners rely on their naiveté.
The performances alone are obvious tells. Look at the all-time list of time performances for Gate River. Then look at all time lists time performances for the half and then see how many ran those times within 6 days of each other. Then look and see if Gate River or NY drug tested.
Leaving the US to train in Morocco takes you out of USADA testing jurisdiction and we all know Moroccan’s are not getting tested let alone some US "citizen" not on the lists. A "doctor" can tell you when to go back to the US when your blood test start to come up clean and come up negative.
This guy is officially black listed and any and all performances or people associated with him will be too. So Nike might as well pick him up to add to their incredibly long list of dirty athletes.
Well I can assure you that Mo is NOT on the ooc pool for usada. there often is doping controls at gate and def in NYC, but how easy would it be to load up beforehand, run two good (or great) races, then take some time off to reload for your next big race(s)?? oh yeah, thanks VIPAM for posting this > how convienent to do just that. lets just hope he's smart enough to avoid them well.

The Gate River Run is the USATF Championship for 15K. There absolutely IS drug testing at that race. USADA is there since this is the USATF National Championship. Know your facts before you accuse.
I cannot answer for NYC, but when has NYRR conducted a large race without drug testing?

Kennedy would go to Birmingham to train, not to mention Rowbury and Flanagan go to Mexico. So they blacklisted?

Duarte has zero tradition in distance running. Zero. From what I've read, Trafeh was training on his own his entire time in high school.
Know the facts. If they don't test for what he is on, then he will come up clean

Love how everyone accuses this guy (MO) but people turn a blind eye when it comes to Sergio Sanchez.
In a high school meet I saw him at either the masters meet or sections or state he went out with a 60 or 61 first lap in the 3200. He didn't seem the brightest guy out on the track.
I know the facts!
Mo did NOT get tested at Gate, because they did not do day-of testing. He DID get tested in NYC, he was called into drug testing at the finish.
hey stache, it's always been hit or miss @ gate, they don't pay for it, usada decides if they want to tst there or not. don't play all high and all-knowing, i've run gate and there was testing- but not hte year prior, or the year before that. some races (NYRR) always test, others only test if usada shows up. Mo can easily ride a high for two good races, then disappear for a month or two, and run another good streak. that would be both normal rest&recover, and possibly suspicious at the same time. with mo, it's perhaps more suspicious than anything, just because of his character.
Mo Trafeh ran 8:55 at Arcadia when he was a junior in high school. He was not allowed to run track his senior year.
