David McNeil - making a statement

Agreed.

Solid runner. He also ran in the World Champs this summer in the 10K. Guys like Derrick get more credit...but McNeil has owned him in their last 2 matchups.

Seems like a good guy, but seriously, what does he weigh?

Also, he is much, much older than Derrick.

So, not American, not 19 (or 20 or 21...). It is not really surprising that he doesn't get the attention that Derrick does here on a primarily American running site.

Incredible run by Mr. McNeil... Then after the race, the guy hangs out and worked as aback up timer and lap counter. Class act all around!

The guy isn't that old. He is 23 years old and is younger than Galen Rupp and almost two years younger than Sam Chelanga, who are the only two folks that have beat Mr. McNeil when it counts.... Don't try to take something away from him because you think he is older. 23 or 24 is the right age for someone that is a junior or senior... This guy is just a great runner and I think he will win a lot of races before he is done.

Yes, it's very clear why Derrick would get more attention, the above poster either has some insane bias, or is insanely stupid. That poster will have a 12 year old kid, and be like, you suck, i keep owning you everytime we race around the track...and actually mean it.

his interviews on flotrack are cool- seems like a good guy.

he was in his twenties as a freshman...rupp is not competing in the ncaa, so his age is a non-issue...23-24 is not the right age for a senior.

Meaning he was the same age as Rupp when Galen competed as a senior. No body said anything about Galen's age, although they tried to tear him down for other reasons... In addition he isn't as old as Chelanga, so what does his age when he started have to do with how he is running now... He is pretty much the same age as any senior in college. I didn't start this post to say he is the best in college or compare him to some freshman or sophomore. I started it because the guy was 2nd at NCAA cross, blew up at UW, and less than 7 days later run 14:17 at 7000 ft... If the guy was 27 I still think it was impressive. Its funny you simple try to give a runner some credit for running great, being a good person and there is someone that always wants to take away from that person. Oh and 23 - 24 is the right age for most seniors, if you include a 5th year in school which most athletes take now a days... Start at 18, stay five years and leave as a 23 yr old. Or you start at 19, stay 5 years and leave as a 24 yr old... Shoot maybe it was better that nobody posted about Mr. McNeil if some people only want to find ways to talk bad about him...

This guy is doing incredible things and flying under the radar, but that's ok, I think David is the kind of person that would rather do without all the hype and attention.
