I'm preparing for my first real marathon in November (I've run one other, but I trained very stupidly for it). I did a 20-mile run on Sunday. I felt great through about 14-15 miles. Then got a major side stitch. It hit me all at once and I had to stop and walk for about 2-3 minutes. Was able to contine without much problem after breathing deeply and massaging my side.
My question is, does anyone have an effective way to deal with side stitches? Why do they happen...am I not breathing properly?
