I totally agree with the poster above. What benefit is there for Wetmore in continuing to coach her? Even if she paid him some dough, he lives a simple life, and with his responsibilities running the program at CU he probably prefers time away from the job over the 10-15k he would earn from JB.
Money aside, there is not a coach in America who does a better job than Wetmore explaining the underpinnings of his training.
By all accounts, JB has a good head on her shoulders. After five years in Boulder, she is departing with the equivalent of a masters degree in running, and is equipped with the tools to coach herself.
Despite the knowledge, there is value for some in simply showing up and letting someone else do the thinking for you, and perhaps that is why she is choosing to go with Julie.
Here's hoping it works out in the Springs, and that JB doesn't abandon what she has done for a radically different, speed-oriented approach. For her sake, I hope she finds some element of team camaraderie there as well. That is perhaps the biggest adjustment she'll have to make.
