Henner says that she will leave no stone unturned but couldn't even find Barringer's new email address to send her an encouraging (perhaps athlete swiping?) email. Hmm. Why didn't Lukezic develop after early on hitting the 3:33 while training with Webb? Low mileage, limited base, lots of intervals. Why did Barringer want Henner? She had a huge 1500m race and now wants to concentrate on that distance. Why did Barringer have that huge race? Because of all her aerobic strength. So, what is Barringer going to do this year? My bet is that she gets some improvements from age, concentration, and particularly hard intervals (starting from the current base), and then tails off next year because of a lack of aerobic base.

Sounds very David Krummenacker like
Do any of you guys even know what Henner's program is like? Since when has 70-80 miles been low milage? I'd say its moderate mileage. While I think Jenny would be better suited to train under a coach like Gags (location is a problem), I think she'd well under Henner.

But we're all expecting a huge season from Ritz this year, who did the same thing last year?
Admittedly, Salazar seems to be doing a great job with his athletes and Henner has a much spottier record, but why would people look at what happened to Ritz and assume the Jenny B's aerobic base will somehow evaporate after a year? Its not like that training is going to disappear. It probably won't bode well for her long term development, but I doubt she's just going to disappear.
I'll admit, I can't say I'm super excited with the coaching change, but lets see how it pans out.
that's sad

Henner is likely the best available semi-local coach.

When was the earthquake?
Um, why would she go to a coach who coached Chris Lukezic?

Henner's a fine choice, though if she'd gone with Jay Johnson she'd also have some training partners for workouts as part of the deal. I guess training with her soon-to-be husband will have to suffice.
Culpepper signed with adidas out of school. Goucher signed with Fila out of school. The Brothers Torres signed with Reebok, and are still with them.
No shit??

Do you need more than that?

And not exactly true. Jay Johnson just had a couple of nice debutates in the half-marathon.
What the f*** is a debutate?
assuming he was available
Maybe she didn't want to spend 3 hours a day throwing a medicine ball in the air.
You really don't know anything about Coach Benson's training based on this commentary.

Since Benson was coached by Gags you likely see many of Gags' ideas intertwined in her training.

LOL. I wouldn't go running off to Jay Johnson, either. However, based on how things were between Wetmore and Jay at the end of Jay's time there, JB couldn't ask him with a good conscience. I doubt JB likes Jay much.
The truth is that Wetmore's tremendous success at the collegiate level comes from his talents at mind control. His coaching methodologies are not particularly special, but his ability to mind-f*** his athletes is unparalleled. Unfortunately, this hold wears off after a couple years, and his athletes start to become skeptical of who they discover is just a very grump, bitter old man. Some of the more brain-dead athletes make it 5 or 6 years before they scamper off to another coach. Many start to see the light after only 2 or 3.
It was only a matter of time.
