Does anyone know if last year's Nike Zoom Waffle XC Spikes were better than the model from 2 years ago? The 2 year old model had 4 individual floating spike holes, which after worn once got all bent and made it almost impossible to change the spikes. It looks like last year's model has an actual spike plate with holes for 6 spikes instead of 4. The reason I ask is that they are on clearance for $29 and I am thinking about picking up a pair. Any info would be great!
Correct about your findings with the XC Zoom Waffle's. I believe the problems were rectified with last years' model.
Just a note: There are three different model's of the Zoom XC spikes. The 4-spike, 6-spike and the no-spike Zoom Waffle racers. I believe the problems most runners had with the spikes bending involved the 4-spike Zoom Waffle Racers. There were considerably less problems with the 6-spike and obviously none with the no-spike shoes.
I'd go for it. Those spikes run retail for about $50. so half price is good!
I'd originally gotten a pair of the 4-spike shoes and had that same problem. I replaced them with the 6-spike shoes and had no problems at all. They should be fine.
