Hubers was redshirted for cc and just when he started back running he got injured. Looks like he's coming back well though.

Looks to me like every runner on their team is running every meet so far. Burn out for sure!

So do you get excited when you run 9:10? Or would you only be happy with a sub-7:40?
To the OP let's not get too excited even though those are great times. Bob ran his times on an old flat track, while these guys ran on a fast, banked Mondo track.
F*** IU go to hell. i hate that F***in school for c***s only.
Wow. Agree that Bayer (at 7:55) and Poore (at 7:57) have impressive results especially at a meaningless meet in JANUARY.
Let's fast forward a bit and ask the question: what would you expect their times to be in March or June when there is really something on the line? Would they stay at about the same performance, improve by 5-10 seconds or they'd be beyond their peak?
Well, let's look at what we know:
1 - Helmer is a speed based coach.
2 - They had a hugely disappointing cross country season, where they ran well early and faded badly down the stretch.
3 - The athletes probably feel like they have a lot to prove after a poor XC season.
4 - Outdoors the team was LAST in the Big Ten.
I think the conclusion is easy.
Andrew Poore-
Yes you have times similar to HAAS and the Jefferson's... but there's one thing you'll never be close to...
Thier level of douchebagness is way lower than your high level of douchebagness, yes that is a word... SEE YA IN JUNE AT NATS... oh wait hahahaaa
I didn't run at the college level, but I'd like to give these kids more credit to know enough to change something in their training plan if they want to get different results (based on your points two, three, and four). I can't believe that they would keep on doing the same thing (peak early) and get the same disapointing end of season results?

You obviously don't know Andrew Poore. Say what you want but anyone who runs with him or against him knows he's a great guy who works hard. Chill out
Agreed. Andrew is a class act. Congrats to Poore and Bayer on a great race...regardless of the time of year
How many different IU bashers are posting on this thread? My guess is less than the number of basher handles on this thread.
Well is there real bashing going on? Lets start with the perspective that when you read the title of the thread, add the results, and then add the flotrack link, it probably does come off as being a bit arrogant especally when it's still January. So are you really surprised at some of these responses? If the so called bashing is based on history/facts then what do you say about it?
I think it generally just boils down to Helmer being a huge douche

I would consider this bashing...

I just want to say the Flotrack link was not to promote the IU runners. If anything it was to signify the fact that an outstanding record fell. Sure, it was on a banked mondo track. Overall running 7:52 is huge though, YOU are making it about IU. I just want it to be about the fact that an amazing record fell. Bob Kennedy is and was will continue to be an Icon and Legend in Indiana and at Gladstein. The rest is background noise.
