Oh yeah, and for the small dick men out there, that equates to 3:31.23 for a man.

Good thing they are not from Morrocco or Russia or that would be pretty suspicious.

The last time an American woman ran under 4:00 was 2002. Last year there were 3, with Jenny being the first.
Sorry but you are wrong. Running the 7th fastest time at 1500 meters is NOT the same as being ranked 7th. Barringer was NOT ranked in the top 10 in the world at 1500 meters in 2009. Rowbury, Wurth Thomas and Willard were the only Americans ranked in the top 10 at 1500 meters in 2009.
Barringer was ranked in the top 10 in the world at the Steeple Chase. I believe she was either 6th or 7th
Bud, an objective time trumps a subjective ranking. This isn't a beauty contest. 3:59 is world-class.
Bud...You used the word "ranked" in your comment. I guess you don't know the difference and you clearly don't know the importance of the world rankings in track and field. By the way, for the record, the rankings are not subjective. Please don't kid yourself on that one.
Let me help you make your statement factual: "Barringer ran the 7th fastest time in the world in 2009 at 1500 meters". There now, that wasn't so hard!
And yes, 3:59 is world class. You get no arguments from me on that one.
This may be New Balance's biggest signing since James Worthy got a contract and his own signature shoe!
Will Jenny's signature shoe be called the NB Jenny 8675309?

First I want to clarify on Kara's salary. I work for Nike and have access to every athletes contracts. She is currently making a base of 320K. With bonuses she can surpass 600K in any given year. Jenny B was offered a 4 year 750K contract that another shoe company upped by 250K. Jenny would be wise to sign with us. She may make less in base, but her access to world class facilities, medical etc more than makes up for it. BTW Galen's base per year is 350K, 5 year deal.
If you indeed work for Nike, which I very much doubt, please describe the Tiger Woods sandwich at Boston Deli.
so, if jenny b. is signing with nb this morning in new york, does that mean she will test out the new kit at the new balance mile on saturday!?!
Whatever she gets in total, it will serve as a downpayment on a house somewhere off Spruce Street, or, perhaps she'll be able to afford a two-bedroom condo outright if Boulder's where she'd like to stay. Ahhhh Boulder, the land of Range Rovers and BMWs with "Free Tibet" bumper stickers. Always makes me grin.

Since that song is about getting a "number on the (bathroom) wall" I sure hope not.
Brings to mind Phil Ochs' introduction to the live version of "Love Me I'm a Liberal"--"10% to the left of center in good times, 10% to the right of center when it affects me personally."

Twitter said Brooks was her second choice
her signing was more Josh Rowe than New Balance.....there can be no doubt
I'm sure she told everyone they were her second choice
If Nike is paying Goucher 1 million then they are getting ripped off. Barringer isn't worth that either.

Highly unlikely considering she is not even world class level. Maybe running against some US college runners she does well, except for XC Nationals. She has not proven herself yet as a high caliber runner. She also needs some SEX appeal. And yes I did say SEX appeal.
In this sport the girls that make the money, not only do well in their event, but must show some skin.
Example: Isbayneviea, or however you say her name.
Since when is placing top 10 in the Olympics and WCs NOT World Class?????
Glad to hear of the possibility. She's an excellent athlete and outstanding person.

No, it doesn't. You're simply quoting a number from the inferior Mercier calculator, a primitive little toy that isn't used by reputable organizations. Although one can quibble with IAAF scoring tables, they are at least supported by massive databases of real-life performances.

At this point there is little point in freeing Tibet. All the bumper stickers, tshirts, and concerts haven't done anything to free Tibet, or stop the successful, and almost complete eradication of Tibetan culture. Freeing Tibet would (have) require(d) war, and the hedonistic, immoral, hypocritical liberals would be the first to side with the Chinese and condemn America in such a war. No, they just want to party at events to Save the Earth, that just create huge amounts of garbage and pollution, and essentially nothing to "save" the Earth.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
