I agree that Flagpole just got lucky.
With that said, I never disagreed with you, Flagpole, I thought Ritz could break the 5k AR too. It's not like you were the only person in the entire world that believed this. I just didn't care enough to whine and draw attention to myself with these predictions.
I'm happy that you were finally right, but....who cares? His accomplishment isn't about you.
1) It wasn't lucky. It also wasn't MY victory. I saw a guy who was better than all the others before him and correctly called a 5,000 AR for him...I've also called the 10,000 AR for him too. It's his for the taking.
2) Dude, I never said I was the only one who believed he would do it. Some here said so and agreed with me...good for them. We were the minority though. And, it's not like people here just simply said, "he doesn't have the speed to do it". The responses were, "You guys are idiots. You know nothing about distance running. Quit sniffing Ritz's jock"...crap like that. Now, you never saw me calling any of THEM idiots. They were just wrong, and I was right. A person doesn't run 12:56 by LUCK, so Ritz wasn't lucky to run that time, and I wasn't lucky calling for him to do it. I didn't say that Hall would do that or Goucher or Broe or Dobson any of the other people that were thrown up as better than Ritz. Not luck brother...observation and knowledge of distance running...that's what lead me to correctly call for him to break Kennedy's AR in the 5,000. Considering the crap I took (and others too who agreed with me), and considering he did this a while ago now, my bringing it up a couple times since hardly makes me whining about it. I'm just right, and those of you who called me on it are wrong and deserve a little of me telling you I told you so. Nice that you agreed with me that Ritz could one day break the 5,000 AR; would have been nicer for you if you actually said so before he did it.
You are correct about one thing though...it's not about me. I agree 100%. It's about Ritz and me saying that HE would accomplish what he has. He ALWAYS had the ability. Just most here couldn't see it. That's just a fact.
