Of the top seven that went to the NY state meet my senior year after winning our section, at least four and possibly five went on to run DI college. I was seventh man and ran D3. This was mid-70's. I'm pretty sure I would win a reunion race.
Percent of your High School's XC Top 7 who continued to run in college?

My HS was new my 10th grade year, I was in top 3 all 3 years. One guy a year ahead of me went D1 walk on for a year. I went D1 (partial, 4 years). One guy two years behind me went D2 with a nice scholarship for two years - VERY talented, very uninterested.

currently 2 of 7 are running, 5 of that years 7 will likely run. 2 guys that graduated my junior year are running- one at Navy and their number 2 man in cross (3:50 in the 15, multiple sub 25's in XC), another at Boise State.
This years team stands to have tons of guys though- 1 junior and 6 sophs- all below 16:40 -

Agree with the above poster that "a little background" looks like the '77 Deerfield, IL team. Rated #1 in the country I believe with their top 5 under 15:00 at state.
If memory serves, Todd McAllister (4:07), Mark McAllister (4:09), Tom Stevens (4:09), Keith Hampton (9:04)
too bad none of them improved much or even made it through 4 years of competitive college running. High school peak and burn out? -
