The strange thing is how secretive it all is. When wheating is out with something you know it. Centro too. Derrick as well. With Fernandez it's a big mystery and it doesn't seem have any good surprizes.
That strategy seems to work against them. 2 seasons ago they were favorites to win cross and got blown away, last season heavy favorites and they barely came out ahead of 3rd ranked Oregon. As a whole they don't come up with much on the track. It just seems that trying to be so sneaky and evasive creates a culture and mentality amongst the athletes that tends to bite you in the butt. You have Derrick and Stanford with a very different mentality and Oregon and their stars all willing to put it out their on the line and both of those programs as well as top runners seem to enjoy a more consistent level of success across all 3 seasons.
