40 meters in 4.64 x 0.91 = 4.23 yards.
man they start slow. I have no idea how much faster he could go knowing he is just running 40 yards, but this does make it kind of a close race
Actually, it proves how much faster Bolt is. One of those is hand timed, the other is FAT. Bolt has to react to a gun, thus adding more than a tenth onto his time. Johnson gets the advantage of starting when he wants, then the timer has to react. In this kind of race, Bolt runs no slower than 4 flat. Probably close to 3.9.
In other words, the clock starts before Bolt in one race.
Johnson starts before the clock in the other.
Ugh. Alright here it is. Bolt's WR splits, which you can find at

40yards is 36.576m
If Bolt were to run the 40 at the combine, he wouldn't have to worry about reaction time, so a reasonable estimate of his 40 time is:
2.89 - .146 + (16.576/20)*1.75 = 4.19s
I don't know for a fact, but I believe football players don't get starting blocks on their electronically timed 40yd dashes. Anyone with sprinting knowledge want to estimate how much that would slow Bolt?
