Just because a reporter asks you a question doesn't mean you have to answer it. Figure out in advance what you'd like to see in the article/blog, and then say that and only that.
Examples -
Reporter: "So how was your coaching?"
You: "We have a lot of motivated, talented athletes on our team this year. It's really been a great experience."
Reporter: "Did you do the workouts the coach gave you?"
You: "I've really dedicated myself to training hard and smart, and I think it's starting to pay off. Plus we have a lot of motivated, talented athletes on our team this year. It's really been a great experience."
Sometimes those kinds of non-answers work better than "No comment," since "no comment" in response to either of those questions would be a red flag to any reporter. Plus journalists can use a "no comment" to indicate to readers that there might be a problem: "She refused to comment when asked about the quality of her coaching."
But if you just respond without actually answering the question, there's not much a reporter can do. What would they write: "When asked about her coaching, she didn't really answer the question"?
